15 year old gets plastic surgery to stop bullying

The thing I really didn't understand in this video was the dumb hag "But doesn't getting plastic surgery send the wrong message to the bullies? Shouldn't it be the bullies fixing their attitudes" - I just want to ask that lady "What the ---- are you going to do for this girl? What the ---- are you going to do for kids getting bullied in school over things like this?" I just hate people who give this kind of thing tautological lip-service when so long as neither parents nor teachers can discipline bullies without being mastered over a barrel by defense attorneys, it's the dumbest thing in the world. My thought: either we figure out a way to stop the bullying culture or, we stop saying stupid things like that to kids who have to have corrective surgery as an alternative to tapping a vein or hanging themselves.

That's so wrong. Even, if she had a problem with her nose, she should have done it for herself, not for them. Why do people have to be so cruel?

While I won't condone the shallowness of our society I will say that she'll be able to go back to school, maybe even get a date or two, be allowed to be much more fully herself than she's ever been (ie. without getting smacked down on impulse by the other kids), having a somewhat confident presence which is seen as mandatory in our culture, and she'll have a much better shot at getting a decent job once she gets through college. When she looks back I don't think she'll regret it but I could see her awareness of how much a simple augmentation of her face changed her life and I don't think she'll ever lose touch with the significance of that lesson - that is she may very well end up being one of the people out there trying to make a difference.

I say good for her. Now I hope she steals the boyfriend from the hot girl who was one of the lead bullies.

She looked pretty then, she looks pretty now (presumably after a year or so) Only thing missing was the smile.
