The proposed new NHS prescription policy will be based on the "wider societal benefits" of the person receiving the prescription.
http://www.independent.co.uk/life-style ... 50297.html

The article focuses on the elderly but, with the aspie unemployment rate running at at least 75%, and the depression and social anxiety levels not a lot below that figure, it seems likely we would be caught up in this notion of life unworthy of life.

I keep telling myself that just because most of NT society seems to want me and others like me dead that doesn't make them morally right, but this really reinforces the notion that I just don't want to keep fighting a losing battle.

They say we are unempathic, the sick ****ers!

I had to check the date to make sure it was not April Fool's day. I guess this article is no joke even though National Institute for Health and Care Excellence is called NICE.

Who is beneficial is very subjective. It could end up being the elite are the only ones deemed beneficial.

I'm pretty sure that what they mean by "wider societal benefits" translates as "getting the person back to work in the interests of profit". The Tory quoted says this will not be targeted at the elderly. You can therefore bet it will be about employment status, and that palliative care will go, along with treatment for anyone else with limited chances of employment - and with the unemployment rate among aspies, you can bet that will include us.

And yes, expensive treatments will be limited to the elite. There is some dystopian science fiction predicated on this very idea.

The notion itself is socially divisive, indeed destructive. They are not worried about society - they are worried about profit. It's designed to, among other things, make people even more desperate for some sort of job, thus forcing wages down further.

These "people" are evil, corrupt and greedy, not stupid.

I'm surprised this is not bigger news. Maybe the ones that come to the rescue will be the pharmaceutical companies. Profit monger versus profit monger, like two predators fighting over a carcass.

I don't pretend to understand the humans, but it makes sense to me that this isn't bigger news because the rich have successfully divided everyone else into deserving and undeserving poor, the undeserving ones being those who are not contributing to the wealth of those same rich people.

It is a sad and dangerous country that does not have a large middle class. But I got away from the original article. I wonder what the religious people think about this.
