Ummmm, mixed feelings about this. Everyone is entitled to their religious freedom including the Atheists, but the folk who give out religious stuff in the street are annoying.

The Bibles in the cabins are probably the fault of the Gideons. Google them. They're best known for placing Bibles in hotel rooms and hospital rooms, but they've been expanding their reach. Now, they even have members standing outside public schools, distributing pocket New Testaments to students. They were doing this when *I* was in HS, over 20 years ago. I must have had 5 or 6 of their pocket New Testaments in a drawer at one point. I was an atheist and collected them for lulz, seeing how many I'd end up with at graduation. Maybe 5 or 6 IIRC. I recently (last fall) saw Gideons on the sidewalk outside a local middle school, handing out their pocket Bibles. I dunno what the law says about putting them on govt-owned property, I suspect it's technically against the First Amendment.

They have the exact same right to distribute literature as much as anyone else.

Some athiests do weird things. They say it is not religion, yet they bash religion like it is. They believe you cannot disbelieve it, because it is science, and really spells out like a belief system to me, which by anoyone else can be interpreted as such. Furthermore none of these scientific know it alls can tell me what, and where that five grams of weight goes, that just magically disappears when someone dies. There is a certain percentage of your biological mass that is unaccounted for too.

Those bibles are there for a REASON and NEED to STAY!! !! !
You might run out of toilet paper, or you may need to start a fire.
They crammed alot of nonsence in a small space so the pages are very thin.
It burns very well.
Besides, it is fun to open one of those up, stand on a street corner, and yell those words. Good fairy tail stuff. Just like Santa Clause. It's theory of mind!
You could be creative. Open one up, and play connect the dots or something.

I will remain unaffiliated.

When I lived in Charlotte, NC back in 2001, The Gideons had the world convention there, and they were handing out their little pocket New Testaments. --I finally took one from a group of them because they were so insistant that I take one, just to get them to go away.

You will find stuff like the above mentioned athiest tracts to be more common in The South as a reaction against the Bible Belt mentality that is quite pervasive there.

I think this is just plain wrong. Religious fights do not belong on government property no matter what. There should be no exceptions.

If they were handing out scientific literature that presented only scientific fact, it would be a different ball game, but to bash any religion on property of a government that should be completely separate from religion is reprehensible.

Freedom of religion, and speech is a good thing. It belongs everywhere. As far as science goes, well that is a different story. It does not belong in a place where religion is. For now, it is an entirely different entity.

There is no scientific value for awareness. Science knows weight, height, mass, movement, energy, and stuff like that, however when it comes to awareness, and all of its aspects, it draws blanks.

If you do not believe in the idea of why religion exists, because of science, than you are missing something.

Real classy.

One is a classic work of literature the other is nothing but (at best) an attack on the first.

It's garbage like this that gives atheists a bad name.

^ This. I don't know what specific content the atheist books have, so can't comment on how "classy" or otherwise the text is. If the state allows religious propaganda to be deposited in public places then I see no reason why the antidote to said propaganda can't also be deposited.

Agreed. Apparently athiests want to get rid of books. If they were right about stuff, they would make their own silly book, and trump the other one by putting it in the same drawer In the same hotel room.

Unfortunately atheism is science, soo all they can put in that drawer is some stuff about biology and what have you.

They can also put on saffron robes, dance about and chant: Ain't no Harrii, Ain't no Krishna,

Makes sense - atheism is very much akin to a cult.

That would be more interesting to read than the made up and inaccurate stuff from the bible.

Indeed; educational material could be included explaining the age of the universe and how the earth formed plus details about evolution and the mechanisms by which all life on the planet have evolved.

As a kid I loved books on early humans, dinosaurs and other prehistoric animals. When I later read Genesis....
