I can't believe there are still societies in the world that would think it's okay to do something like this.

It should come as no surprise that a society that has only recently gained wealth where previously it was known for being essentially unchancged from the biblical era should give rise to such a belief system, and be using their recent petroleum funded wealth to export that belief system worldwide. --All due apologies to people who had thatt system rammed down their throats while they were growing up and now know better.

And I can't believe the international community lets them get away with this. A few years ago these same a**holes threatened to "wipe Denmark off the map" over those cartoons.

At least the Sudanese government is going to wait until she's weaned her baby before they flog her. How merciful.

O Allah, Most Merciful, Most Forgiving.

Sudanese savages strike once more.

Can we make Sudan illegal? Sudanese people would be the big winners.

Their president is wanted for war crimes and crimes against humanity. Maybe some people should go over there to get him.

I maybe mistaken, but I thought her Chrisitan husband is an American citizen. If so, is there anyway American special forces could extract the both of them from Sudan?

Can you understand now why us evil 'right-wing populists' don't want them wandering into our country en masse and starting up their backward crap?

Whenever you claim it to be acceptable to use violence to impose your will on people, you really shouldn't be surprised when people you disagree with do the same. This is your brain on statism.

Perhaps, if the other countries really do oppose this, they should declare open season on the Sudanese government - if anyone wants to overthrow them, they won't oppose it. Send back their diplomats and cut all recognition.

Why are her husband and son not being brought to America for their safety?

Once here, can he not request for her to be extricated and sent here, as his legal wife and primary caregiver?

Why is her son in jail with her?

Why was this family's faith her brother's business?

Why have the authorities not simply asked her mother what faith she taught her daughter?

I imagine because in third world, Islamic countries, no one's going to bother asking a woman anything, and could care less what her opinion is.

Senators try to save pregnant woman sentenced to death in Sudan - CBS News

From the article:

Quote:
New Hampshire's Sen. Kelly Ayotte and fellow Republican Sen. Roy Blunt of Missouri wrote to Secretary of State John Kerry, urging him to grant Ibrahim political asylum.

"We request your immediate action and full diplomatic engagement to offer Meriam political asylum and to secure her and her son's safe release," the letter said.

Sen. Jeanne Shaheen, D-N.H., called the death sentence an "abhorrent violation of fundamental freedoms and universal rights."

"No man or woman anywhere should be treated as a criminal, much less sentenced to hanging for exercising the basic right of religious choice," she said.

Meanwhile, the British government summoned a senior Sudanese diplomat to express its anger at Ibrahim's death sentence.

Britain's Foreign Office said Monday it had summoned Sudan's charge d'affaires, Bukhari Afandi, and urged him to try to overturn the sentence.

The first article I read on the case stated that there were three witnesses willing to testify she had been raised as a Christian, but the court refused to let them do so. The authorities don't seem to be neutral in this.
