I went to YouTube and found the video. I love cats, but I couldn't help but laugh. Schadenfreude, I'm sure, but considering they had "Under the Sea" as background music, I couldn't help it. But you could tell the poor kitty didn't like it. I think the manufacturers were right, that cats should be sedated when in that thing. I was expecting something smaller, though, than that ENIAC-sized monstrosity that was called a pet spa...

I find myself sort of mixed. I definitely need more than just that video to make my decision on this issue. How many good and easy ways are there to clean a cat while keeping them happy? If cats are going to be unhappy no matter how they are cleaned then is there an issue with the spa? I don't know, I am not a cat owner.

Before watching: This has potential

After watching: HAHAHAHAHHAAHAHHA

OK, seriously, whats the difference between forcing them into the sink/bathtub or this device? They both get them clean, they both use water, they both use soap. The makers of that device said it reduced their stress. Honestly, I dont know if it did but it sure as hell didn't make it worse.

The only difference between this device and not using this device is the fact the cat flips out in a control environment where as, as seen in the video, people have to grab them by their neck as their limbs fly everywhere when trying to place them into a sink/tub.

If funny for the first thirty seconds, but after that it's just cruel. I would never use one on one of my cats.

i don't know. i have mixed feelings about this. i've washed cats before and this seems better for the human then getting scratched. i've also seen cats in that thing that were fine (er less 'stressed' than this cat). each cat is different...

i don't think they prepared the cat for that. he seemed scared before the water started. i mean i don't think they let the cat get used to it ... it sould be less scary than hand washing because 1. the cat doesn't feel like your holding him under, 2. the water drains much quicker than a tub or a sink, 3. its a comfortable temperature, and 4. the water pressure is very.... anyway i'll stick to hand washing... i don't trust machines with animals yet.

I agree that it's funny for 30 seconds, but the whole thing is really cruel. I've since given up on trying to bathe cats, after being scratched several times. They pretty much clean themselves, and those flea drops work really well.

Now, my brother has a weird cat who actually enjoys water, and will sit in the tub after someone has gotten out of the shower.

I got no amusement out of this. That cat was obviously terrified.

I can't speak for that particular cat, but having washed one of my cats in a bathtub I can say he wasn't nearly as stressed as that cat in the video. He was unhappy and wet and vengeful, but he wasn't scared. That cat was scared.

Yeah if you do it yourself at least kitty is with someone. She's all alone in that box.
