In what universe is this acceptable behavior?

Anyone who approved this should be up for "Most Likely To Get Their Asses Fired."

Disgusting. Enough bullying goes on without teachers adding to it with 'awards ceremonies'. The fact that some people are approved to work with children is crazy.

Quote:
The awards, which were created by the teachers themselves, were labels for the children such as ?most likely to succeed,? ?most gullible,? and ?drama king.? After voting, Denis received both the ?Most Gullible? and ?Drama King? awards. At the time he did not know the meaning behind the awards, but thought they might be bad.

Seems rather inappropriate, especially at that level of education, to even create awards like that to give students since it potentially sets them up for future harassment.

I know people sometimes hand out those kind of awards to be silly, I wonder if any normal kids were handed any mean spirited awards. if so, then I would know the kid wasn't targeted specifically. He was just treated like everyone else.

I was once handed a award in class by a group of kids "keeping the class loud" and I knew then it wasn't a good award and my teacher saw it and said it was unacceptable and made them change it. I forget to what,

Teachers were never much use for dealing with bullying when I was in school, but for them to turn on the student this way is frightening. I hope this gets a lot of press and they are fired.

With teachers like that, who needs bullies?

Wow, that's really mean-spirited of the teacher.

I think a good percentage of teachers are bullies. I'm not just saying that from my experiences as a kid, but from my experiences as an adult working in schools. It's like with police officers: some people get into it for the right reasons, but it also attracts absolute scumbags.

I'm not the least bit surprised. *sigh* Disgusted, yes, but teachers bullying students had stopped surprising me by preschool. We live in a sick world.

It seems that the teachers are as bad as the bullies. The more things change, the more they stay the same. GRR
