So, I've been watching live the verdict of the Oscar Pistorius trial the whole day today, while the judge went through all the evidence that she found relevant. To cut a long story short, she has accepted Oscar's story that he thought that Reeva was an intruder and now a conviction of murder is off the table. However, I think that he'll still be convicted of culpable homicide (manslaughter in the US) as she said just before the lunch that they're having now "that's a competent verdict". I'll keep you guys informed.

He isn't off the hook, he was tried and found not guilty. the only thing he may be guilty of is involuntary manslaughter, just because it seems really stupid to think of all places a home invader would be in your bathroom at all.

If he was in the States, he could have attempted the "Biden Defense", which has worked out for at least one person...

I didn't say that was off the hook, I said that he was off the hook for murder and I acknowledged in my post that he could be found guilty of culpable homicide (that's what we call manslaughter in SA). In fact, I think that he will be.

Just in. Oscar Pistorius has been found guilty of culpable homicide with respect to shooting Reeva Steenkamp. With regards to the other gun related charges, he's found not guilty of the negligent discharge of a fire in the sun roof incident (where he was charged with firing his gun through the sun roof of a car). He's been found guilty of negligent discharge of a firearm in the Tasha's incident (where he fired a glock pistol in a crowded restaurant) and he's been found not guilty of the illegal possession of unlicensed ammunition.
