By the same token, would you equally cheer an Autism Speaks which hides behind free speech and equal protection for its anti-autistic statements? Having the right to do or say something doesn't necessarily make that something right or acceptable, does it?

There is a Satanic (Satanist?) church in Oklahoma planning to install a Baphomet statue on a local courthouse lawn.

This is being done by the same group.

Also, this is not Autism Speaks, these people actually seem to have something intelligent to say, in a way that subversively 'gooses' the Conservative Christian establishment.

Autism Speaks, OTOH is like a well oiled machine that consumes large sums of cash and really doesn't seem to produce anything tangible other than slick advertising campaigns, in order to generate more cash income.

I reiterate: Having the right to do or say something doesn't necessarily make that something right or acceptable. To make it abundantly clear, that includes those who would distribute bibles (Satanic or otherwise) at public schools.

Always bear in mind the enemy of my enemy is not always my friend, I hold the view that the satanic books being placed in schools is wrong. Also the crazy fringe of the "church" trying to stuff their ideas down other people's throats is also wrong.

Diagnosed under the DSM5 rules with autism spectrum disorder, under DSM4 psychologist said would have been AS (299.80) but I suspect that I am somewhere between 299.80 and 299.00 (Autism) under DSM4.

^Agreed.

While I agree with the sentiment behind the groups actions (shining a light on religion mixing with government), the way they do it seems to be somewhat hippocritical to me. Although their stunts are very intelligent and well thought out, not to mention the fact that they are legal in the exact same ways that other religious beliefs are crammed in where they don't belong.

^ditto.

I was actually given a Satanic Bible (Lavey) by a group outside of the city court building on the opposite side of the parking lot from where some "Christians" were handing out Bibles. Those handing out the Christian Bibles were very condescending when I said no thank you, and downright insulting when I told them I did not believe in God when they pushed me to accept. At least I was handed a Satanic Bible with a friendly smile and a "good luck in court!"

Among Christians (and, amazingly, even within the fundamentalist movement), the more hostile behaviors of fundamental Christians are frequently debated. While not fundamentalist in the strictest sense, the LDS Church has spent the last several years gently and publicly discouraging such behaviors among its members regarding its openly LGBT members (yes, there are some). It hasn't been a rousing success (such things are probably generational), but it has blunted the sword. So, what is to be done with rogue members (and sometimes whole congregations) who take it upon themselves to fight the fire of some in the Satanic and New Atheism camps, for example, with fire?

BTW, both the Satanic Bible and the New International Version Bible are copyrighted and published by News Corp.'s Rupert Murdoch (FOX News Channel). I wonder what Anton Lavey would say about that. :D

If the book is anything like a light hearted version of The Satanic Bible, then those kiddos should be in for a good read.;)

I do find it sad that it is so hard to appeal to reason when so many others are busy trying to push everyone's fear and anger buttons.

Therein lies the problem. Fighting fire with fire just fills the skies with ash. If it weren't for Christian hostility, I don't think militant atheism would have gotten much traction. And militant atheism just drives hostile Christians even further into the hate box. But I guess every group has those who feel the need to destroy.

^I always find it so amusing that there are so many things put out by Murdoch in the name of profitable business that are the exact opposite of everything he will openly and publicly denounce.

I've just read about this in our newspaper.

There was also something about parents being concerned about religion being taught in Australian schools their kids are going home with ideas of fire and brimstone and the world being made in seven days. so they're pulling their children out of those classes.
