Just wanted to raise a toast to Dr. King; the man who redeemed America's soul.

You know this forum is almost entirely White/Asian when nobody responds to a thread congratulating DR MLK...

I'm a white guy, and I started the thread, so... Well, the night's not over yet.

You picked an odd date. Martin Luther King Jr. was born on January 15th. Robert E. Lee, on the other hand, was born on January 19th. Anyway, let's celebrate the former.

Never knew the man.

His speech was self-evident (equal rights under the rule of law; I'm not a fan of forced equality outside of the rule of law--people should be free to eat with whomever they want to, and we are), but perhaps I grew up in a tolerant society.

Those people refusing to eat with blacks obviously don't believe in a tolerant society, as that decision is based wholly on racial hatred. And what about blacks and others who aren't allowed to eat with who ever they want? Isn't that a violation of their rights? And integrating businesses was hardly against the rule of law, as civil rights legislation became the law of the land.

It's around Elvis' birthday, too.

Nobody ever refered to Dr. King as "king." He wasn't into that type of hierarchy.

Martin Luther King is at the top of my pantheon of innovators.

Elvis Presley was more of an imitator than an innovator--though not a bad imitator.

Me, TOO!!

Also, Elvis would've never become "The King" if he were an imitator, IMO----he only became "The King", because he WAS an innovator!

Robert E Lee
- "I have always observed that wherever you find the Negro, everything is going down around him, and wherever you find the white man, you see everything around him improving."

So says a guy who fought to keep human beings in sub-human status as property.

Maybe he was right, negroes and autistics today would be subhuman and seem as property. Ah, what a alternative thing that could've happened.

The negro leader MLK would be ashamed that how African Americans behave today.
