" JOHN NASH, 'A BEAUTIFUL MIND' MATHEMATICIAN, AND HIS WIFE KILLED IN TAXI CRASH"

Quote:
Princeton University mathematician and Nobel Prize winner John Nash, whose life was the subject of the film "A Beautiful Mind," was killed in a taxi crash along with his wife in New Jersey on Saturday.

Wikipedia: John Forbes Nash, Jr.

Quote:
John Forbes Nash, Jr. (June 13, 1928 — May 23, 2015) was an American mathematician whose works in game theory, differential geometry, and partial differential equations have provided insight into the factors that govern chance and events inside complex systems in daily life.

His theories are used in economics, computing, evolutionary biology, artificial intelligence, accounting, politics and military theory. Serving as a Senior Research Mathematician at Princeton University during the latter part of his life, he shared the 1994 Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences with game theorists Reinhard Selten and John Harsanyi. In 2015, he was awarded the Abel Prize (along with Louis Nirenberg) for his work on nonlinear partial differential equations.

Nash is the subject of Sylvia Nasar's biography A Beautiful Mind, and the film based on it, which focuses on Nash's mathematical genius and his schizophrenia.

May his troubled heart and mind finally find the peace that he had struggled for with his own brain for all those years. At least he left with the woman he loved.

"American Experience: A Brilliant Madness" is a really good documentary about him.

I'm glad that his suffering is over...he suffered terribly :(

I'm grateful to him that he fought his dysfunction and was able to give us what he did Mathematically.

His legacy is VERY impressive and he deserves to be remembered as one of the great minds of our time.

I feel for his son, who lived with Dr. and Mrs. Nash, I'm sure he is very distressed.

His son is a Mathematician with mental illness as well.

I hope he has the support he will need.

I didn't see that coming. He was 86 years old. And his wife died with him. Wow. :(

Just a shame they couldn't make a film of John Nash's life that bears some semblence of truth, rather than the complete fiction of "A beautiful Mind".

From a documentary I watched on YouTube I have the feeling, that his son is even more severely affected from schizophrenia, but I might be wrong, as it was only a short documentary.

RIP John Nash.
