By now if you have heard the U.S. Senate in early Saturday morning in a midnight session failed to renew the Patriot Act in the form of the USA Freedom Act.

The USA Freedom Act was the water down reform bill of the Patriot Act that passed the House earlier this month.

The Senate failed to garner the 60 votes required to pass the USA Freedom Act, in part due to a symbolic filibuster from Rand Paul (He actually did).
The Senate also failed to pass a 60 renewal of the Patriot Act as well.

If the Senate fails to pass the USA Freedom Act by the stroke of Midnight on Monday, June 1st, the Patriot Act will finally expire once and for all.

Obama has failed to get the Democrats to line up and pass it, instead they are siding with Rand Paul (Republican)
The rest of the Republicans are lining up behind McConnell.

Final Show down to occur next Sunday May 31st, in special Sunday session of the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives.

Rand Paul defection and his newly found Democratic allies keep to their word, they will likely succeed with a filibuster.
Mitch McConnell the newly elected Senate Majority Leader is vowing to use procedural rules AKA ramming it through to avoid another filibuster and rebellion.

The Senate may end up passing their own version, forcing the House to a conference in a last ditch attempt renew the law.

Both Obama and Congressional majority leaders are warning of grave consequences if the Patriot Act expires.

It's official the Senate opposition led by Rand Paul successfully delayed the final vote on the USA Freedom Act until Tuesday under Senate rules.

The Patriot Act has officially expired.

The Senate will take up the matter again on Tuesday, where the opposition will again to attempt to block a final vote.

Harry Reid the Senate minority leader and previous majority leader, lash out at majority leader McConnell for not having a plan.

The neocons like McConnell and McCain and liberals like Obama want to push the freedom act which contains no "freedom" in it.

Obama is not a liberal, and no liberal would support the "freedom" act. Conservative Republicans created the Patriot Act, and conservative Republicans are creating the Freedom Act.
