This morning Charter Communications (5th biggest ISP and cable provider) have announced they have reached an agreement to merge/acquire Time Warner Cable (2nd biggest ISP and cable provider) and acquire BrightHouse Networks (6th biggest ISP and cable provider) for over $60B+

If completed, the new Charter Communications will be the second biggest ISP and cable provider in the U.S. behind Comcast.

The companies are promising this merger/acquisition will provide better speeds at better prices, better infrastructure, better customer services etc...

If this fails to get governments approvals, it will lead to higher prices and lower speeds, less competition and other horrible things.

You have this backwards. This merger means less competition, which is worse for consumers. Get ready for slower speeds at higher prices (because it's the only game in town). Without competition, there is not motivation to improve services or keep prices low.

As with the former Time Warner - Comcast merger, you are incorrect on the effects. There is no reason to be happy about this unless you are a major investor in either company.

I am on Charter, and I think it is not a bad thing. At least Charter is not being taken over by Comcast. Which would be the worst that could happen.
