Science is in great difficulty in Russia, even more so than in Canada, which is saying something.
http://news.yahoo.com/russian-scientists-stage-rare-anti-government-demo-162959888.html
With all the governments lowering their spending, the attacks on science by some hysterical medias, the rise of various religious right groups and the rise of fascism in Europe, sound like science won't make much progress during the 21th century. :(
It wouldn't suprise me (Though I won't be alive to see it.) that the 22th century begin with a lower technological development that now.

I know people in my church who reject science because it doesn't seem to back up their literal interpretation of Genesis regarding the age of the earth, and evolution.

Something about that article smells of suspicious since the vast majority of Russians actually love Putin and most of the world actually supports him (this even includes "informed Americans" who are in America who'd rather have Putin than Obama as president)... I also find that RT is a more reliable source of information about Russian than from American-sources...

It never occured to you that a media controlled by the russian government could have a pro-Putin bias?
Most Russians like Putin? Well of course as ALL major russian media outlet are controlled by Putin and peoples are stupid enough that even in places far away from Russia they are many that shallow whole the russian propaganda. Unless you think that so many opponents to Putin being assassinated is normal...

edit: Turn out even RT is talking about the protestations. http://rt.com/news/265495-moscow-protest-science-education/
It's propably to appear more "balanced".

I live in Moscow, Russia - and for the last year I completely changed my attitude towards Russians. Some time ago I thought Russia as more or less part of Europe and Russians in general are good despite dictatorial structure of the political power but this war that is now waged with no shame by Russia against the Ukraine opened my eyes. As it often appear - while you don't feel something by yourself you don't know what it really looks like, what it means.
SInce the very beginning of this conflict I backed most peaceful variants, that would decrease any chances of future military operations. I advocated this position in articles, in talks with family members, friends and office colleagues. I never attacked them, I just told them facts about Russian invasion in the Ukraine and that it should be stopped. As a result now almost all my family turned off me, they call me the traitor, colleagues in office repeated me many times that "Ukrainians should be slaughtered" (I'mm 50:50 Russian/Ukrainian), I now lost almost all so-called friends because they all back the war and are really happy when they read news like "27 Ukrainian civilians killed in Mariupol". They are happy of blood, of death, they definitely hate every nation around, every. And these examples are not single - these are almost all Russians even living abroad. Hard to believe it, I wish it was false but it is true.
So I feel I was blind for all these years - and now I can only say "I hate Russians" and my main wish is to leave Russia forever.

Don't worry Anonymous is also in Operation within Russia...

I am fully aware that RT is indeed Russia's mouth-piece so don't be assuming that I don't do my home-work, but I can tell you factually, many comments are made by a number of Russians/Americans/Indians, yes, INDIANS, who factually support Putin & make references to Edgar Cayce about how Russia becomes the [last] hope of the world (with huge amounts of up-votes to those comments by the way). See those videos in regards to Putin threatening to expose the 9/11 inside-job scam (although I know that it was really due to aliens) with satellite-evidence then read the comments to see for yourself.

Americans who prefer Putin to Obama are better informed?!?!
I remember the likes of Mike Huckabee singing the praises of Putin at the expense of our President, but I hardly consider the Huckster to be better informed on current events, politics, or even religion (even though he's a so called minister) than the average person.

Russian Scientists have been ahead of the world in many areas. Including discovering Autism apparently.
Sukhareva-Prior to Asperger and Kanner.

So a Telecom that went offshore, is now funding general Science?

Russia got hacked, so bad they put typewriters back in production, and built a closed internet.

I remember thirty years ago when the British bought American computer companies that owned chip making machines, and staff, brought in Brits to train, and one day loaded it all on a plane back to Britain.

When a Telecom is recruiting Biochemists and Rocket Science, it looks like fishing to me.

Give grants to young people, follow their careers, get access to State Secrets.

Something like a Chinese Company giving grants to American Science Students. And free iphones.

How about Islamic Charities giving grants to young men in America?

If they like Russian Scientist that much they should have grants for them to work in the West.

I am sure this guy who moved his money and business out of Russia, is pure as driven snow.

It is everyone else who spies and steals trade secrets, funded offshore through another company.

A lot of the world buys Russian jet and rocket engines. They do not sell the latest designs. Russia has the fastest fighter jets. Russian subs are the best. Armada Tanks are almost fully automatic. One man can run one, and he might be on a computer behind the lines. Their Air Defense system, the S-500 will take out anything, with a range of 5,000 Kilometers. Russia has the most operational Atomic Warheads.

Russia has the only Breeder Reactor. It is not some test in a lab, it is full size power generation. Knowing us, it is 600 foot underground. Moscow is the only city with fallout shelters for the whole population.

The US sent live Anthrax to labs around Russia. Japan, Korea. They were running tanks within fifty foot of the Russian border, and say they are putting in a missile shield. They overthrew the elected government of Ukraine, and tried to take the Russian Navel Base in Crimea.

I would say a little caution is in order. Iran had five of their top Atomic Scientist murdered.
