The judge's ruling was ridiculous. She (maybe, I'm just speculating) was so much driven by the need to be tolerant to other cultures that she forgot about her duties as a judge. Or perhaps she traveled from Saudi Arabia and really liked the way justice was handled there. Or perhaps the laws in Germany are really messed up (although she was removed from the bench from what I understand).

I agree... Secular courts should jugde based on secular laws. If some Imam refused to marry the lady in a subsequent marriage, I don't think I'd care. Plenty of religions have different standards for divorce than civil courts, so she'd hardly be unique.

This has nothing to do with whether or not Islam is "peaceful". It's probably some anti-Islamic judge who's trying to make a political statement for shock value. I hope she's disbarred.
