Obama wins: Supreme Court upholds Obamacare subsidies, 6-3

Quote:
Tom Howell Jr. - The Washington Times - Thursday, June 25, 2015:
The Supreme Court upheld Obamacare’s ability to pay subsidies to customers throughout the U.S. in a ruling Thursday that cements the law’s legal standing, delivering a resounding win to President Obama...

Maybe he'll legalize marijuana before his term ends. :-)

I'm not sure how long his "good week" will last. He's being attacked by fellow Democrats and his base of support over his endorsement of the Fast Track legislation, which has now passed the Senate. Now the way is clear to negotiate and pass the dreaded TPP without having to go through Congress. Not good!

If the TPP is agreed in late July or early August, the deal could be up for a final vote in U.S. Congress in the first half of December. Other countries also have to seek lawmakers' approval.

Bloomberg
Quote:
The rare alliance between the White House and Republicans on trade emerged after the 2014 election, when Republicans took control of the Senate and McConnell became majority leader. A national business lobbying campaign geared up when it became clear Obama was making trade a top priority.

Is the TTP bad?

Don't know about Obama but a good era for progressives/liberals. In Politics and public opinion you have these pendulum swings. You had the "liberal" New Deal era 1930's-1970's, The conservative era 1980s-2000's. And now public opinion from LBGT to the Confederate Flag etc is rushing left at breakneck speed (except for Autism  ). So I would not be surprised to see Democrats have a clean sweep of the Presidency and both houses of Congress next year. But then in this always connected era 30 year era's are probably a thing of the past so maybe by November 2016 the pendulum will swing back. And libertarianism is a wild card factor that was not there in earlier era's.

It's good for Wall Street and big corporations; bad for workers. At least that's what opponents are saying. Maybe it's not as dire as all that, but the it's been cloaked in so much secrecy, one has to be very suspicious.

Something to do with the Asian market I guess. Time will tell.
