I just want to say that many Americans consider him a traitor. Given that most NATO members are also EU members, then this is a provocative act. Sorry but I haven't looked into the details regarding how this resolution was passed.

I won't argue whether or not Snowden's actions have done any good, but what he did was a felony. Neither President Obama nor anybody likely to succeed him is going to pardon him (I am assuming he won't be succeeded either by Bernie Sanders or Rand Paul).

I can't imagine this resolution would guarantee him any real safety in the EU. His only chance to avoid being taken into custody and extradited is to stay in Russia. I don't think he would last five minutes in a country like Hungary where four years ago they placed a statue of Ronald Reagan in Budapest's Szabadsag Square.

Probably not. I wouldn't in his case. He knows he is safe in Russia because they would have extradited him already if they were going to. Who knows if the EU country he goes too or through will do the same.

EU parliament has no enforcement mechanism, he'd get snatched up the second he set foot in in the EU since the US can pressure the individual governments into doing what they want.

No wonder it's getting no play in the mainstream media.

What about Germany? I don't think Merkel is a fan of the NSA spying network. Or maybe they don't want the diplomatic headache of dealing with Snowden.
