Funny,my own state of Washington was the first to legalize gay marriage by popular vote, and yet we aren't having any tornado or earthquake activity at all.

She's just another self-appointed "prophet" running for public office.

As an Aspie who accepts LGBT people, I would rather believe it's the other way round...

Funny, I believe tornadoes in the U.S. have been down for the past few years, when compared to the long-term average (and definitely way down from where we were in 2011).

So gays (who tend to marry in the blue states) are causing tornadoes. Which if you look at the data seem to happen far more often in red states. Maybe the conservative Christian god is actually p*ssed at them for being so full of hate and he's trying to get their attention? Anywho, I need to go give my spouse a passionate kiss, hope no one in some rural Texas town gets hurt by wind-born debris.

She's a bit out there, btw. Pretty much blames everything on LGBT people, from the price of gas (when its high, anyway) to troops overseas getting killed to hurricanes in countries with the death penalty for being gay. It's no wonder her own party wants nothing to do with her.

Stop, for a moment, to imagine how scary the world would be if you actually believed this nonsense. It would be like living in the zombie apocalypse.

Years ago when I was working, my cube was right next to the cube of a lady who was a rapture christian. Her husband was a rapture pastor. I didn't know what the rapture was until I'd worked with her for a few weeks. Anyway, whenever I didn't have my headphones on I'd hear her no matter what she'd be doing in her cube. She'd call her husband at lunch and they'd have these bizarre conversations about the rapture. When I first started working there I thought she was talking about having a family member over and how she couldn't wait for him to get there and whatnot. They were hoping he get there before the end of the day, but maybe he might get there tomorrow. Naturally I assumed they meant a real person.

After I'd been there a few days I heard her say that the person coming was Jesus, and that they would all have a white horse to ride on when he got there. WHAT? Headphones back on. Some of these people are not playing around. They no sh** believe in this crazy stuff.

Imagine a presidential ticket featuring Donald Trump and Susanne Atanus.

No stop screaming.

Just to point out, zombies and the apocalypse actually *are* key elements of their belief system... 8O

Also, I think some ot their earliest had an auditory processing disorder, as it's not actually "rapture"...

That really would be the beginning of the Zombie Apocalypse!

The bible provides examples of GOD punishing people:

- with floods (bad weather events)
- sin punishment (Sodom Gomorrah)

Her modus ponens reasoning:
LGBT = sinners
the world gets punished by GOD with bad weather events because of sinners
------------------------
Therefore, LGBT cause the world to get punished with bad weather events, etc

Yes, but based on the Old Testament (where all the smiting took place) it was the sinners that were punished. The whole *point* of the OT was to convince the Hebrew people that if they followed their god's laws, they would be spared. Yet, at least here in America gay people tend to move to urban areas and it's the rural ones - especially in anti-LGBT states - that get hit by things like tornadoes. Really, the rational conclusion is that their god is punishing the sinners, they just twisted Jesus' message of love and inclusion so badly they don't realize that they *are* the sinners.

Or at least, people in the OT perceived natural disasters as God's wrath.
I prefer Jesus' explanation: "It rains on the just and unjust." That is, bad things happen, but that doesn't mean that God is punishing anyone.

Yeah, it's not like his punishments were exactly fair or even consistent. Lot & his wife are perfect examples...

*punishment for everybody! Yay! Equality*

The sad thing is, as always, that these mad people are stalling progress, on gay marriage as well as climate change (which, as far as I know, makes weather more extreme, let alone the sinking of some of the most densely populated areas).
Why cut carbon if it's the gays fault?
It makes me sad with rage.

It was only very recently, here on WP, that I discovered that there actually is a Biblical argument against climate change. Someone mentioned a passage I'd long forgotten in John, that talks about how God makes the weather. So, I started looking around. Turns out that view is a lot more prevalent than anyone (ie the media) is letting on.
