My question to these scientists wondering why are we "afflicted", would not constant stress and anxiousness affect blood pressure and what blood vessels look like?

Interesting. I think more research needs to be done. That would be interesting if autism ending up be vascular and not neurological.

The article mentions a postitive link between angiogenesis and neuroplasticity. It has recently been discovered that neuroplasticity exists and can be increased in adult brains, and is more of a lifelong process which is influenced by stress, changes, and damage to the brain, among other factors. If we're constantly trying to adapt to a world where we just don't quite "fit" then the correlation they have uncovered between increased angiogenesis in autistic brains may not be due to causation, but rather a side effect of living with the condition. Also, people with autism are often medicated either before or after diagnosis, and we do not know what impact those medications may have on their brains.
