From NBC News:

http://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/hal ... a_20160315

Do take a look at the Chicago Tribune investigation of the murder of a black guy by a white cop, linked in the article. The black guy had all sorts of problems and a chaotic life, but wanted to strive. Instead, he was killed.

It makes me wonder if TPTB are using widespread use of deadly force by cops as a last ditch "culling" of "undesirables". It's no secret that the powerful have long dreamed of wiping out "life unworthy of life", starting several decades before the Nazis came to power. Nazi Germany was intended to be a real life laboratory of how to most effectively wipe out "ballast lives". It was only when Hitler went nuts and overran much of Europe that TPTB decided that he had to be stopped.

Even then, the dream did not die. As late as the 1960s, the "feebleminded" were forcibly sterilized in the USA. And then there's the various bizarre incidents since then, apparent attempts to start a nuclear war with the Soviets, mysterious diseases that some think could not have evolved naturally. All have failed, so they're simply using cops as executioners as a last ditch desperation move.

How is a police officer supposed to know if any random person is "Mentally Disabled" or not?

Your "culling" conspiracy theory breaks down in light of that fact.

Also, I'm calling "Godwin" on this thread from the first post.

I don't think there is a conspiracy. But it is true that the mentally ill fair badly in police encounters.
I think this short film series covers it well.

eugenics won't die. right now it is a "passive" culling via malign neglect.

I do not agree that it is a conspiracy. I think that more police should be trained to better handle the mentally ill and intellectually disabled. There have been a few tragic cases that I've heard of in the past few years, where officers have killed those with mental illness, when things could have been handled in a non-lethal manner.

why are there police departments that won't hire applicants whose IQs are one standard deviation beyond average? if all a person has in life is a hammer, he's just gonna be lookin' for things to nail. what would happen if it was standard practice to try to hire only smarter-than-average applicants for street-level police work?

First we shut down public mental health facilities starting in the 1980's.
Then we militarized the police forces in the early 2000's.
Then we gave returning Iraq/Afghanistan vets hiring preferences in law enforcement without first providing therapy & transition help.
And somewhere along the way, the police subculture became...twisted a wee bit.
"Citizens" are now "Civilians".
Police began overtly showing signs of racism and religious extremism.
And anyone acting too strangely - even if pre-identified as mentally ill - stands a fair chance of being shot.

I don't think the police, or anyone for that matter, is above being criticized but... the cops being inspired by Nazis to wipe out "undesirables"... that's pretty much anybody who poses a risk to the officer, proven or not.

auntblabby, thanks for that... I had no idea???

Ps. Edenthiel--you said that better than I could've ever thought of... just wanted to show the other side of that coin; too many times I've acted like an ass, only to be proven so, and yet (on other occasions) have been the sweetest guy you've ever met.

I don't understand why police are being used as paramedics or as a medical team. They are trained to deal with violence and crime, not with people who will act as such due to a mental illness who will act violent. I dan't understand why the intellectually disabled would be killed too, do they pose any threat or violence to the officers?

because, by and large, they see themselves as an occupying force, and us as mere "civilians." it is IMHO a dissocial dynamic going on, "us versus the other."

I'm sorry (actually, I'm not) but if a person is a danger to a police officer or someone else, that person needs to be subdued as fast as possible. In Britain, we are much more light-touch (we'll only use a taser as a last resort, and only armed police if the person has a gun) but the basic principle is the same.

AFAIC, tasers are too often misused here, they are used when they don't need to be used [on non-combative, unarmed suspects], and not used sufficiently often when they do need to be used.

Did anyone else ever stop to think that the main reason half of police kills are "mentally disabled" is because mentally disabled people are involved in half of the crimes?

Maybe if the families of mentally disabled people cared enough to get involved and keep their mentally disabled members sedated and in custody, there would be fewer mentally disabled people wandering around and causing trouble.

I'm blaming the victims's families, not the victims - mentally disabled people can not be held accountable; and for this reason alone, they should be kept off the streets.
