After enduring several days stuck down a drain without food or drink, the lovely female dog was rescued and taken to the local SPCA where she's bonding with her rescuer, who was lowered into the hole to lift her.

I love stories like this. :D
Maybe Nandi's rescuer will adopt her.

Very nice ending,or hopefully a new beginning for the dog.
Someone just dumped a large male shepherd mix off on me,I already have three dogs so I can't afford to keep him.
No shelter in this county and the closest one is full.
He's a very sweet and well mannered dog,why some one would dump him is beyond me.Ive put up flyers but no one has called. So till I can rehome him,I have to feed him.Definitely a hardship for me becuse he is a very big guy and has a healthy appetite.
Everyone cross your fingers his owners call or I can rehome him.

Good luck in finding his family or a new home.

Hi Misslizard, try taking a few pictures if possible or even a short video and send to a community paper or something in the next county or biggish town or on an online community forum - if people see him in an image or short action video clip they may respond and be prepared to fetch him if within reasonable distance, or even pay railage / transport costs.

Good idea,he's a very nice dog and would be an excellent companion to romp with kids.If I could afford it I would keep him.

I'm happy to have read this wonderful article and I'm glad that the dog Nandi is alive and well. It was nice to see another example of the powerful bond between humans and animals. It also further reinforces the example of the intense level of emotion certain animals possess and demonstrate. They are far more complex and aware, and this is a beautiful thing.
