How many times have the Republicans tried this? The next time a conservative complains and moans about government waste and incompetence, we all should remind them about their own party's waste of funds and time with ending Obamacare. That, and how their obsession with Benghazi runs a close second in waste in time and treasure.

It's not hypocrisy- their agenda to bring down government from within by all means of stupidity is honest and heartfelt and their god-given corporate sponsored duty.
The means seem contradictory, but they are true to their agenda.

You have to admire their conviction, like you have to admire the conviction of a guy breaking into your house and raping everyone and everything you care for.

that phenomenon of quasi-fascism reminds me of the words of MLK who said "there is nothing in the world more dangerous than sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity." the GOP are the American Taliban whose god is mammon and who endanger the continued survival of the USA as an entity.

Yes. Sadly, the democrats worship the same god, albeit with more constraint.
Bernie Sanders seems like a reasonable guy.
In the US, he's a socialist. In Europe, he'd be pretty center, maybe a bit to the left. Maybe because we have in parts experienced socialism, and realized it has some good aspects.
Are you aware that the overall consensus in East germany is that their civil society was better under soviet rule, that people worried less, and that money didn't mran that much (obviously... You had a choice between 2 car models, each of which you'd have to wait for for months).
But education was free, so was childcare. Single moms could work, and would not have financial worries.

the dems worship mammon also only because to NOT do so = unilateral disarmament [in the face of the GOP who will never dislodge themselves off of the multinational corporate teat] and obsolescence.

Oh no, as much as I do agree the democrats are the better choice, I think they, together with most governmenys in the west, perpetuate a form of capitalism that by design eats itself up, together with the planet.
Globalization and market liberalization, and the credo of eternal growth are eventually going to tear down large parts of the world.
Sure, democrats are for a fairer tax system and socialized healthcare, but eventually, they still support a system that asks of every single member of societu to be a greedy bastard.
We can't live without financial speculation on basic commodities, and that is a global economic issue.
"Too big to fail" is a real thing, not just propaganda.
Acting against financial institutions equals a revolution, and I don't think the democrats are willing to take that risk, the risk of that kind of financial power leaving to more wellcoming places, like London or Singapore.

I am going to say this one time. Why should I be paying a complete strangers healthcare due to their carelessness while they were "healthy". Then they abused their body by drinking, smoking and eating fatty foods every single day. Then I get stuck with the bill with their abusive lifestyle. They should do it like everyone. Get an health insurance plan like everyone else.

This should be in the Politics, Philosophy, and Religion section because this is a tinderbox subject and the rules are a little more relaxed for debate.

Well, you could just let them stay sick but then they'll be unemployable and you'll pay even more when they get on government assistance. Then you can cut assistance and make them sick, homeless, and starving. Then like all nations with large populations of starving people you can deal with the violent revolution that follows. Society is a team sport, we either all win or we all lose.

Then why should I pay for their carelessness for having a heart attack for eating too many Fatburgers and chilifries every single day in their life? There is a thing called personal responsibility because of their poor choices in eating junk food instead of healthy food. I make responsible choices in the food that I eat. If people get a heart attack because they were poor eaters they should pay.

That would be nice if all of the players wanted to play, but too many want to take the easy way out.
