A self declared warlock and part time (shoddy) magician has tortured his autistic stepson by chaining him in a shed in near freezing temperatures and washing him in cold water. The boy recently passed away from hypothermia.

I would really wish instead of prison he could experience the same torture he inflicted on his stepson.

That's one of the most horrible things I've ever heard.

Almost wish Hammurabi's code was still a thing. This guy deserves the death penalty.

How is this just man slaughter?!?!?! If the prosecution took a plea deal, then those guys definitely fell asleep a the switch, because I don't see how a prosecutor couldn't get a murder conviction out of this.

By all technicalities, it was probably established that the man's intent was not to kill or murder the boy. Therefore, manslaughter is the next runner up. I sympathize with your viewpoint, though. It does feel like that prison is not enough.
Also, prosecutors are generally very corrupt these days. Anything to bolster their pride at the expense of other people's lives is the thing to do, as far as they're concerned.
What a horrible thing to happen! I feel as though I were also left to die in the cold with this kid.

I'm sure you're right. I'm still pissed off about this, though.

Not gonna happen in Australia under any circumstances since they abolished the death penalty a few decades ago. The f****r won't even spend the rest of his life in prison since it is manslaughter. From what I just read, 25 years is the max for manslaughter. Hopefully, they'll send him to the shittiest prison they have.

Put him in General Population in the prison and we'll see what the prisoners think of the powerful Warlock(child abuser)

It doesn't surprise me in the least, unfortunately. Hear about things like this all the time. Which is why I can't read the news anymore.

It obviosuly wasn't the man's intention to kill his son, he only wanted to discipline him. He did try to revive him after all. This is what happens when you have poor judgment and I wonder what his IQ was for him to do something this dumb.

So he claims. He knew his s**t was in the wind and he was trying play it down as a damage control attempt. Who wouldn't?

You can't revive a corpse. Even the dumbest of the dumb know that much.

He might have been dumber than a bag of hammers but given what he did I wouldn't accept that as an excuse.

Well if you want to believe he was smarter than that. There are people out there who actually think they can bring a person back to life because my mom who worked as a nurse has have parents bring their dead babies in panicking thinking they could bring them back to life because they rolled on top of them. I was 14 when I thought "what? How could they think that?" and she said she didn't have a clue. So yes people can be that dumb. But even if a 14 year old would know that, then I am sure someone with a borderline ret*d IQ would know that too but people are shocking you know.

Now is it possible someone can just bring their dead child in to make it look like an accident and that it was all unintentional, yeah. Diane Downs sure brought her kids in after she shot them when they were barely alive and tried to pass it off on someone has shot them and while she may have had a above average IQ, she didn't do a very good job with her story and her acting and she tried to pass that off as how her dad raised her to explain her lack of feeling. She also did a poor job covering her tracks.
