The bill will allow use of marijuana oil and extracts, while still prohibiting the smoking of the drug, to treat or alleviate the symptoms of a long list of ailments including autism, epileptic seizures and nausea brought on by chemotherapy.

Thoughts?

idiotic
Medical marijuana is a hoax
All they are doing is trying to put another poison in the hands of those who want to get rid of autism.
The result will be more people being distorted by this corruption to the mind, more suffering, and more harm.

That's great. I've read enough articles and watched enough videos to be convinced that medical marijuana is a good thing. For seizures it works better and is cheaper than prescription drugs. Patients going through chemotherapy get their appetite back and can keep food down while using it. For autistic people it helps to calm them down. There are so many uses for it.

Ignore yelekam. He doesn't know what he's talking about. I use edibles to stop the anxiety and help me sleep. The only downside is getting the dosing correct. When drug companies start making drugs with these ingredients, we'll have consistent doses. Even so, they help a lot. Also, there are epileptic children who would be dead because of uncontrollable seizures if not for CBD oil. Watch the videos here for better information.

Step in the right direction, not there yet.

Cannabis is an amazing medicine with many uses, there is a lot epilepsy in my family so it can be a life saver.

Like Diogenes of Sinope, I'm looking for an honest side here, but it seem to me that it does help people who really need it with everything from glaucoma or cancer to who knows so if it does, I have no problem with it. As long as they hang up the car keys, go for it! My opinion, I have no problems legalizing it, we spend way too much time, effort and money chasing people around because they have a little bit of weed, we have too many other problems to worry about. It should be the person's choice.

Thoughts.
A. In the States the industry is not regulated
B. Dosing such as edibles is iffy.
1. Eat one cookie and wait ____(length of time) most don't stop after one cookie
C. Regulations such as gloves , hairnets , workers not coughing on product, hand washing stations are not standard.
D. Etc etc
E. In Colorado only about 5 % of Marijuana purchased is for Cancer/glaucoma etc.
F. Smoking is not a good thing for humans with lungs.

I've been using marijuana for years. I honestly believe that I would have lost my mind a long time ago without it lol, and I'm not the only person on the spectrum that I know who uses it. We've had medical marijuana here in Canada for a long time (since the 90s sometime?), but our new government made legalising marijuana part of their platform, so they're going to be tabling the legislation to completely legalise/regulate it in Spring 2017. It will be nice having easier access to it. People can call it a "poison" if they wish, but to be honest, I think that's just silly. Anyone with lots of experience with marijuana (or that's read a lot of the current research going on out there) knows that it is lots of things, but a poison is not one of them. Sure, smoking anything isn't really good for the lungs, but that's why someone invented vaporisers. :)

I've been considering getting medical marijuana instead of benzodiazepines for my anxiety and panic disorders; low in THC, high in cannabinoids.

It still baffles me that in most of the world it's an illegal drug, when it's safer than alcohol.

THC is actually one of the cannabinoids in marijuana. I think you mean low THC, high cannabidiol(CBD<--the cannabinoid in pot that has the sedative effect).

It makes no sense to make it illegal. The annoying thing here is that they are legalising it in a year, and they know it shouldn't be illegal anymore, but they're still arresting people for it, and will continue to until they legalise it next year. It's so illogical. Go after the people selling it illegally if you wish, but leave the users alone, I say.

When they get it all sorted out, I may apply for it. I've got paperwork for two of the approved conditions.

I smoked quite a bit when I was younger. I don't miss the foggy feeling in my head.

I do miss being able to look at my problems a bit more philosophically, and being less anxious.

I'm hoping for a scrip for Xanax at .25 mg, it gives me the philosophical distance and calm without the foggy feeling, but I wouldn't be opposed to replacing the kava capsules and valerian oil in my nightly chamomile tea with pot oil instead.

I have a friend with chronic pain issues who hopes they get it sorted out quickly. He's tired of eating Percocet. If he weren't taking opiates every 8 hours, someone might be willing to hire him for one of the several jobs he's still able to do despite not having much fine motor control any more. He HATES being unemployable.

Thank goodness. This is my state. I've been wanting to use it for years for anxiety and insomnia.

I've never found pot very useful personally but I think it ought to be legal like many things if other stuff is perfectly legal.

It's still going to probably take alot to get it. Most states with medical are alot stricter than how things have been out in California for years now. I know in NJ we have medical marijuana, but you can only get it for like 6 or 7 conditions, none of which are mental/psych in nature. Even AIDS is excluded!! And you can only get it for cancer if your prognosis gives you less than one year to live.

You also have to go to a doctor who has paid the state for the right to write the needed recommendation. (prescription is a wrong term, marijuana can not be "prescribed", only recommended- semantics, but true) This license, from what I've understood is quite expensive. So most people can't just get it from their regular doctor. Then you have to be seeing this doctor for a year before they can write the recommendation. Then you must apply and pay $200. This will get you a card for one year. Then it's $200 a year to renew. Then the weed itself actually costs more here than it does on the street. I've been told 650-700 an ounce. For comparison's sake, in most medical marijuana states the cost is 150-300 ounce. I've been told that's even the price in Oregon and Wash for rec weed.

So alot of these medical marijuana laws are a weak attempt at pacifying the push for legalization. In reality they aren't barely helping anyone. NJ had the highest population density in the US and last year I believe there were fewer than 5k people on the medical marijuana program, or some other such really, really low number.

Now if PA ends up being a more lenient program, I may end up there very soon. Though I want to live somewhere where I can legally grow my own so I can control what is used on the plants and can eliminate most of my costs. Since I am a regular smoker who has to buy off of the street, I'd wind up saving quite a bit of money if I could grow my own.
