Iran's protests are powerful and real. Why are mainstream media outlets so hesitant to report on them?

For all the squabbling that social media platforms are notorious for, their relevance to the media landscape plays an important role in times of protest.

This was evident with Black Lives Matter, among other movements. It’s been evident for the past three days in Iran, where thousands have taken to streets and public squares calling for an end to the hardline conservative regime of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

The question that needs to be asked right now is why traditional mainstream media outlets – grandstanding over their importance in this new, bold era of fact-checking and truth-telling – have largely ignored a blossoming revolution.

Anyone on Twitter could click #IranProtests and view videos and eyewitness accounts that contradicted much of Western media’s early reporting about these protests being simply about economic anxiety as was the case with The New York Times and Washington Post.

They're not being reported because they make make Obama look bad, and Trump's support for the protests make him look good (and we can't report that).

Why won't the mainstream media report on the Iran protests? The answer is simple. Conflict of financial interest.

Most media outlets receive funding from billionaire oil giants. The oil giants want war, so they create dehumanising myths regarding Middle Eastern people.

For example, they spread the myth that Middle Eastern people have a hive mind and the myth that Middle Eastern people will never become free unless the American military forces them to be free.

In reality, the people of the Middle East always had the human desire for freedom. The US military hasn't freed the Middle East. Instead, it has fed Middle Eastern dictators, delaying Middle Eastern social progress.

“Independence, Freedom, Iranian Republic.”

“We will die but we will take Iran back.”

“Come out to the streets Iranians, shout for your rights.”

What are you guys on about? I just turned on CNN and it was covering Iran. BBC too. This has nothing to do with Obama. The only decent thing he did was the Iran deal. CNN is a Zionist outlet like the rest of them so there will be plenty of coverage.

Where did I suggest they did? I said it's what Israel wants to happen. I don't know the ins and outs. Though it could be like what happened in Syria, which started on the Israeli border. After Israel have written about how they want to start a war in Syria so it can be weakened and divided. Then they were acting as Al Qaeda's airforce by bombing the Syrian army and treating Al Qaeda fighters in their hospitals. Trouble is, Russia spoiled the party, hence all the hatred towards Russia.

Also pretty disgraceful for you to come out with stuff like that after what Israel and the US has done to your country.

And at the end Hezbollah and Syrian regime acted as bus chauffeurs for ISIS terrorists denying the lebanese army to finish them off once and for all.

One would wonder, why these anti-terrorist "heroes" would provide transportation means for their terrorists

^ Let's talk facts, before the Lebanese civil war, almost ALL Lebanese Christians (The Right Wing Christian parties which represents even today 90% of Christians) were fed-up from the PLO militias, so and so the Shia Muslims initially in 1948. So you had more than half of population who really didn't like PLO presence and hence why sided with Israel. Only Muslim and Druze [i]Leftists [/i]back then were against Israel, hence the civil war...

The anti-Israel Shia sentiments only after the establishment of Amal Movement and the expansion of its social influence, it was the first Rightist Shia party, which was established by an Lebanese-Iranian Cleric and Syria-backed, despite this Movement was always anti-Israel, they were also enemies to Arafat and PLO as well. So the situation with Israel wasn't always black or white.

I know your source is a propaganda outlet when it uses the term "Syrian regime". Strange that Hezbollah would fight against these guys for years then be escorting them away on an air conditioned bus. Sounds a bit bogus. If it's somewhat true, this would be because Assad has said that former Syrian jihadists can surrender and join the Syrian army. If not then they will face the consequences.

Typical Zionist version of events, start the story in the middle and blame everyone else. Why were the PLO in Lebanon? Not by magic or choice, they were driven out by Israel because Israel didn't want to give back land they stole. They then went into Lebanon in 1978 and then again in 1982 to destroy the PLO. Israel killed around 18-20,000 Lebanese and Palestinians. Mostly civilians. Pro Israel people must have some kind of Stockholm Syndrome. Israel are the problem, and that kind of shows when you started there at 1948.
