So I saw some articles, calling out Bernie Sanders as an ableist, stigmatizing people with mental illnesses, etc. I've given up on politics and politicians, but I'm wondering what are your thoughts on these claims?

It's not some ongoing stigmatization. He was talking about, as president, investing a lot of money in mental health care. He made a 'joke' just look at the gop debate, we clearly need it.

Was the joke in bad taste? Meh, i guess it could be seen that way. Though i think trump clearly has mental health issues when you consider how pathological his narcissism is; but the single comment was meant as a slam on the gop debate and nothing more.

The one 'bad joke' aside, i think Sanders' stance in supporting mental health has been pretty consistent.
"... we need a revolution in this country in terms of mental health treatment. People should be able to get the treatment that they need, when they need it, not two months from now, which is why I believe in universal health care with mental health a part of that."

If this is about the joke that he made during the debate with Hilary Sunday. I saw it in a video clip and thought it was funny. But sadly in our society of political correctness run amok people are blowing it way out of proportion.

I actually found the joke funny.

Unfortunately, Donald Trump is mentally ill. He's a narcissist. If you concede that narcissism is a mental illness, then he certainly is mentally ill.

All the politicians on the Republican side are mentally ill if you ask me. Those who get locked up in the insane asylums are the sane ones (at least they have their humanity) So even though I understand the protest, its the whole world that has it backwards. So I don't find the joke offensive.

Comparing the GOP front runners to the "mentally ill" is considered an insult....to the mentally ill?

That in itself is funny!

Eagles don't usually have much of a sense of humour.

His remarks on white people unable to know what it's like to be poor and to live in a ghetto, pretty much showed how out of touch he really is.

I guess living in a well off white state has clouded him, and he thinks all white people are like that.
