(clicky)former bush administration military honcho says that all china/USA wargames lead to nukes
and it is something we could fix but the fix is vetoed by big-money interests. scary. :o

how does a nation of 318 million stand up to a nation of 1.4 billion?

They don't, especially considering the fact that nearly all of the consumer products in that nation of 318 million are made in the nation of 1.4 billion. If that nation of 318 million people decides to play Duke Nukem with the other, it would still be a complete disaster not only for the nation of 318 million, but for the rest of the world that counts on Chinese goods and manufacturing.

You would be talking about a global depression that would make the Great Depression of the 1930's look trivial in comparison. --Never minding the fact that the two world's super powers would be reduced to 3rd world pariah status with large areas of radioactive contamination.

A couple thoughts: 1) China isn't Magog - Russia is. Refer to the table of nations Genesis. 2) Of course China would launch nukes. China uses essentially Soviet thinking. Col. Viktor Suvorov, architect of Soviet nuclear strategy advocated and planned on a preliminary nuke strike on the US under the Axe Theory. China is no different.

Magog is described as being "to the north" of Judea. Never "to the east".

So China is not a good fit.

Even in ancient times Jewish scholars tried to figure out what "Gog" and "Magog" referred to.

Might have been places only JUST north of ancient Judea (Syria, Turkey). But even in the dark ages some thought it meant "the Caspian Mountains" ( the Caucasus), or the shores of the Black sea (now southern Ukraine). Both of the last two areas were parts of what would later be the Soviet Union (though not exactly parts of the modern Russian Republic).

I dont think Magog has anything to do with any thing in our time, but if you have to shoehorn a modern country into the role of Magog then Russia would be a better fit than China.

"Muscovy" is the English word of "the Grand Duchy of Moscow" the medeaval state that formed around the city of Moscow in the thirteenth century. The state that later evolved and grew into the what we now call Russia.

But Hebrew was already a dead language in Jesus' time thirteen centuries earlier. So a "Hebrew word of 'Muscovy'" would be like a Latin word for "Nebraska" (a place that the ancient Roman speakers of Latin knew nothing about, and thus wouldnt have a word for). Its impossible.

Like I said Hebrew was already a dead language for centuries when Jesus walked the Earth. And it remained a dead language until the 20th Centurey when they concocted the modern hybrid of ancient Hebrew and modern Arabic thats called "Hebrew" used as the national spoken language of Israel.

In the days of the New Testament the Jews of Judea spoke Aramaic: a Semetic language akin to both Hebrew and Arabic, but distinct from either. In the days of Josephus no one spoke Hebrew as a living language. So how could there be a Hebrew word for the region around Moscow?
