Can you summarize what is actually happening - how you understand it?

the Kansas legislature is intending to intimidate the supreme court into inaction - as the news article stated, they will impeach any judge who rules against any law they pass. I don't know how they can get away with that for long, this will go all the way up to SCOTUS, they are chomping at the bit for a "states rights" fight.

If they pass that law then...then the state SC will rule it unconstitutional (which it would be).

That will prevent the law from being enacted. Thus saving the SC from being impeached. Impeached for the crime of doing its job.

seems to me to be a naked power struggle, the oligarch in the gov's mansion and his rubber stamp stooges in the legislature want untrammeled power come hell or high water.

Of course it is.

But that first step towards dictatorship has that built in contradiction.

and the thing that is the matter with Kansas, is that the people are either so cowed or so authoritarian [authority-worshipping] themselves that they either see nothing wrong with it or are like deer in the headlights while their rights of citizenship are usurped by the tyrants in the capitol.

Why is Brownback wanting to do it in the first place? Does it have something to do with school funding?

I'm trying to discuss this as normal people should. Any Kansan bashing is going to piss me off.

From what I understand, don't they want all of the school fundings to be equal?

Of course I am only going by what the article says. All I know about it.
But the tale they tale sure sounds outrageous.

If a supreme court can't rule against something than its just a rubber stamp.

My dad grew up in Hutchinson Kansas. So I'm...half Kansan! I am not insulted! Lol!

From what I understand, they want all the school fundings to be equal and that is not possible. Again that is the Democratic way of things - equality. The kids in the area where I live all got I-Pads last year and if they think the taxpayers are going to pay for all kids to have I-Pads, I'm strictly against that.

What it sounds like to me is that Brownback is trying to balance a budget, but the state SC is going against it. As far as I'm concerned, Brownback is doing exactly what I want - no tax increases and gun carrying. I couldn't be happier. And I'm not paying for someone else's damn kids. I'm already tired of them getting free breakfasts and lunches. If people can't afford their kids, then don't have them. Simple as that.

But you would gladly pay for their imprisonment when they can't find jobs due to inadequate education and turn to crime? And you would punish those mothers who seek abortions because they aren't able financially to raise a child?

I'm ignoring you and will never address your comments until you can start speaking like a normal individual. I'm tired of your foul remarks. You're not worth my time.
