That article doesnt even touch upon the central mystery about one-humped camels, and that is "where did they come from?".

All other domestic animals we have atleast some clue as to what wild animal they were derived from. But there are no populations of wild dromedaries today. We dont know where one humped camels came from.

The other kind of camel, the two humped "bactaran" camel (so called because its associated with Bactara, a region in ancient central Asia in what is now Kazahkistan) does have an origin we have handle on because there were until recently populations of wild two humped camels in remote parts of Mongolia.
