Is this guy a flim flam man, or what? Discuss.

People who weren't involved in the get-rich-quick real estate subculture in the 2000s don't realize that the "seminar" "business" was HUGE back then, and virtually ALL of them followed the same template. Lure the mark with a "free" seminar, then use extremely high pressure sales tactics to get him to buy a seminar where the "secret" will be revealed.

During the intro seminar, order the mark to drastically increase his credit card limits and sign up for many new cards. Supposedly this is to "do deals", but the real plan is to use the "carrot in front of the donkey" approach to keep selling the mark on more and more expensive seminars, each time promising to reveal the "secret" in the next seminar.

Ultimately, the mark learns about "hard money", pools of cash that are supposedly set up by venture capitalists to invest in real estate "fix and flip" deals. The thing is, hard money doesn't exist. Instead, the credit cards and the "liar loans" that were common are used. In the end, the mark is out a huge chunk of change, sometimes in the six figure range if not seven.

I still think that a lot of ordinary Joes were stunned when the financial system came within a few hours of collapse in September 2008, but some people who had their finger on the pulse of the RE subculture knew that eventually the heart would stop beating, then it was look out below time. Trump was just jumping on somebody else's bandwagon, a common thread in his non-RE career.

Trump U sounds like a "Glengarry Glen Ross" high pressure sales company.

A lot of Seminar-Businesses make more money selling their Seminars than actually selling something useful.

This is such a nonissue however, if you guys think this is bad then look up one of the dozens Clinton scandals over the last couple decades. Just partisan jockeying, those who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.

A "Flim-Flam Man" is a con artist, a fraudster, and someone who lives by promising people whatever they want in exchange for something they have, and then fails to deliver on his promises as soon as he gets what he's after.

For instance, someone promising to end a drought as long as he receives enough votes ...
