Quote:
"now that I am the presumptive nominee, it seems inappropriate that I would debate the second place finisher," he said in a statement released today. Both Trump and Sanders said they wanted the debate to happen.

Sanders responded by calling him a bully and asked Trump "What are you afraid of?"

It's likely that he may be afraid of debating an educated and experienced intellectual who knows the issues and who is unlikely to be affected by trollish behavior.

For once, Mr. Trump would be in a real debate against someone who knows how to debate the issues.

That is what he fears - someone who could make him look like a blustering, bullying fool.

Same here. It isn't often you get to see a blustering buffoon of a bully get his comeuppance. But now, just like any other bully when his bluff is called he blusters and side steps and squirms out of it. I wish his supporters could recognize that, but he chose a crowd blessed with an abundance of cognitive dissonance.

Pardon me all of you, but I do believe Trump has a point, even though the debate would have been interesting. Why should he waste his time debating someone who may not even be the Democratic nominee? I think he needs to rally some more and let Hillary and Bernie duke it out. Don't worry - the entertaining debates will come in due time.

Not surprised that Bernie started in with the name calling, as that is what the Left always does when they don't get their way - very tasteless.

Maybe Trump could change his mind, did the networks come up with the $10-15 million? I heard the TYT gave a lowball offer of $1,000,000. Nobody paid up, empty promises don't get you anywhere, apparently they all love money more than women's health.

Trump got what he wanted out of the story, a bunch of publicity and to embarrass Hillary Clinton. It is true that Bernie can't win at this point it was just for fun on his part to needle Hillary. Also it further drives a wedge between Bernie and the DNC establishment who were horrified at him trying to sidestep Hillary, Bernie supporters walking out on Hillary just means more votes for Trump. Shouldn't Hillary be the one debating Bernie before June 7th as they actually have another contest against each other?

Also why would anybody be afraid of debating Bernie? It's not like he has beaten Hillary in any of their debates. Bernie needs this way more than Trump does, Trump is running interference in the Democratic primary for laughs.

If the debate does happen I hope the "charity" $10 million is given to is not Autism Speaks.

The Young Turks offered $1 million to host the debate, while technology company Traction and Scale offered $10 million to do so.

Yet he accepted the debate, and then, somewhat conveniently (for him), "remembered" an excuse to back out of it.

Sorry, Angela, but Mr. Trump has yet to sufficiently demonstrate the intellectual capability of one who is fully aware of the collateral effects of his actions - much less, one who is sufficiently aware of the salient facts of responsibility in being a member of the global community to lead the most powerful nation in the world.

As far as I'm concerned, Mr. Trump's only redeeming feature is his support of the right of the people to keep and bear arms. If he can guarantee that any sane person with cash-in-hand, and no criminal record can walk into a gun shop and make any purchase therein, then he has my vote.

Otherwise, it's Mr. Sanders (I've changed my mind about casting my vote for Mrs. Clinton).

The GOP has been pressuring him to stay away from Sanders, because it would been as inappropriate by the public for a presumptive nominee to have anything to do with the losers of the other party.

GOP's base don't want Trump or any of their candidates to been seen with Sanders due to Sanders pro communist stance (He believes the Castro Bros have done a good job in Cuba and he loved being in the USSR when he was there).

They want Trump to take down Hillary for good.

Trump is very interested in Bernie's supporters, he will likely get a nice chunk of them when Bernie ultimately has to end his bid for the presidency. It doesn't matter what percentage really, 15-20% of Bernie supporters going for Trump could tip the election his way. I read an article the other day explaining how this basically happened in 1968 with supporters of Eugene McCarthy swinging over to support George Wallace, ultimately something like 18% of Eugene McCarthy supporters ended voting for George Wallace and he may of been able to peal off more had he not chosen Curtis LeMay as his running mate. Trump will pick up a lot of Bernie supporters, the poll in West Virginia had 44% of them switching over to him in the general and while West Virginia is not typical it is important considering the shared demographics that parts of Ohio, Virginia, and Pennsylvania have with them. 20% of Bernie supporters would be a huge part of the electorate, the schism in the Democratic party is much worse than the one in the GOP where really only the establishment Beltway Republicans and neoconservative losers oppose Trump rather than the actual voting base of the party. Trump will take far more Democratic votes than Hillary will take Republicans.

Same here too. However IMO, it would have been awesome watching two Commander-In-Chief wannabes annoying Americans even more.
