(I don't like the idea of bail. It kinda hits "innocent till proven guilty" over the head, really. Now, if there's a good deal of evidence supplied that will guarantee a conviction (beyond reasonable doubt), then sure, put the person behind bars if the offense is serious enough, but otherwise? Nope, let them go without a fee.)
I agree. Either they are bad enough to require staying locked up until trial, or they aren't. Being able to pay a freedom fee until the trial makes a mockery of that idea.
