Seems like the military has had enough of Erdogan, hopefully they succeed but I fear they won't.

Wow, maybe the spirit of Ataturk still lives.

I hope they remember that if you strike at the king, you must kill him.

Turned out to be a real coup d'etat.

Erdogan will get expelled from his position.

What a surprise.

They can't expect to get EU membership as long as Erdogan calls the shots. He gotta go.

The Turkish military continues the Republican tradition of keeping the government secular.

Turkish Republicans or U.S. Republicans?

Turkish military 'takes over power'

The Turkish military has issued a statement saying it has taken over power. The statement said it had done so to preserve democratic order, and that the rule of law must remain a priority.

Turkish Republicans or U.S. Republicans?

I'm referring to the Republic of Turkey, the way it was formed, and the way it has been maintained. This is not the first time the Turkish military has overthrown the government to keep it from becoming too religious.

John Kerry's statement just now was really ambiguous

hoped for peace and continuity

was meeting with his counterpart in Moscow Sergey Lavrov interestingly enough
