Yeah so that happened right next to me.

In related news, I live one block away from one of the resettlement apartment complexes for refugees and some women in hijab and abaya or full body coverings have started strolling down my street. Usually, we have had Asian, African, and Iraqi refugees in my neighborhood. Only the Africans would sometimes be covered. The Iraqi women dressed normal. I don't know where these new people are from. I would guess Syria. This specific guy could be from there, or maybe from Afghanistan or Iraq. His name sounds Pakistani, but I don't see why we would have someone from there. I live in a mixed income, mixed ethnicity neighborhood.

The apartment complex where the "attempted beheading" happened was not a resettlement complex and was close, but not within walking distance of any of the resettlement areas. So either the guy had been here awhile and moved up to a nicer apartment, which they all do, or he went out looking for victims someplace other than his home.

The two people he attacked are alive. They all three arrived at the same hospital, so the two people fought back and injured the a**h*le.

In general we don't have violent crime here. The worst problem we have is occasional burglaries, which are always solved.

Not sure what this negative energy is about...

If Nurseangela had not posted this story, I would have. The attacker lived right next to me and the victims lived next to my grocery store.

There still aren't a lot of details about this story yet. They're saying he was mentally ill because he "heard voices" but he still managed to find his way to Turkey to try to sneak into Syria for ISIS training. The area in which the attacker lived was a nice area. This is the only information they have released.

All of the people involved MAY have been H1B visa people, of which we we have many in this area. We have several technical companies here and not enough highly trained local people to fill the jobs. They often like it here and go on to become citizens. As I've said many times before, my area of Virginia is multicultural and very friendly. But all those are just guesses. No real details have come out.

Thank you, Ms. S. I'm getting really tired of people around here thinking I'm a nutcase. They will be the ones screaming the loudest when this kind of thing happens in their backyard. We all should be on the alert to this kind of activity - the ones who think otherwise are the "disturbed" ones, imo.

Here in Australia we had a French born muslim Ismail Ayad stab two people - killing a 21 year old girl and critically wounding a man. This just 2 days ago
http://www.news.com.au/national/queensl ... d9076110bb
According to witnesses Ayad disproved of the girl doing modelling and while killing her shouted "allahu akbar"
Despite this the police appear to be taking the line the man is mentally ill rather than a lone wolf islamic radical?
I am curious and wonder how the police decide where the boundary is between psychopathic murderer and psychopathic religious radical?

While the police are saying the motive was robbery I do wonder about jahid in the case of the two nuns/nurse practitioners who were stabbed to death in thier home in Mississippi.
