Anybody else start completely ignoring the news?

I was such a news junkie before I realized that it was making me feel really stressed and unhappy. It's basically all the same stuff all the time and almost all of it is sensationalized to increase views/clicks in the age of reduced advertising revenue due to DVRs/Ad Block Plus/Piracy etc.

Anybody else just decide to tune out of the news like I have? I stopped using Facebook and Twitter completely and I no longer comment on any news articles I come across. No more getting outraged about things I have no control over. No more trying to signal my virtue by sharing stories I think will earn me approval from others.

Instead, I'm just reading interesting fiction and nonfiction books, watching a few scripted TV shows, enjoying athletic activities like riding my bicycle and doing martial arts, and playing some old single-player video games I've had laying around. My stress level has dropped a ton and I have stopped feeling so anxious all the time.

I recommend avoiding the news. It's been really beneficial so far.

I no longer will view news about the current presidential race nor will I watch or listen to anything the Donald or the Hillary has to race. I am thoroughly disgusted and turned off....

I'll "third" that.

After enough of this stuff (years and years, unfortunately) you start to see the same, basic methods, and it looks more routine than controversial.

There's a mgtow saying about self improvement. I should also consider this, when the politicians are trying to court me.

I have to take breaks, certainly. I mostly feel compelled to keep watch over current affairs and keep up with the news -- but it's enormously stressful to me. I take it all to heart. I often have to just stop watching or looking altogether. A whole ago dropped out of being aware of any events, entirely.

But I couldn't stand not knowing what was going on in the world, so I started following news again. It doesn't make me filled with joy though.

I have heard several dignitaries, now,
 who will remain unnamed,
who say they don't watch the news, either.

I believe they have minders, and that information is slowly distilled through several filters. When it gets to them, it looks like a simple, multiple choice question, with a few discrete options, in simple black-and-white.

You don't have to obsess-on every last iota, jot, and tittle, get all worked-up, emotionally, to know the options available to you, personally.

I think it's good to get a political-awakening, take a crash course, during your formative years, but the exploratory stage is over, for me.

I have always hated the news and now it's worse than ever. I could never understand how other people can watch it, especially at night, and not be completely suicidal afterwards. Even worse, they show that stuff when most people are getting ready for bed, so you have all those lovely images to haunt your dreams.

Although I'll admit the news in the States is often a lot less boring than here in Canada.

Every Presidential race is completely the same. "My opponent is the second coming of Hitler. The world is going to go up in mushroom clouds unless you vote for me. A vote for me is a vote for unicorns and rainbows." It's all total BS. Nothing much is going to change either way.
