People have said that this seems harsh----especially since Michael Phelps only got a 6-month suspension for his DUI----but, I'm thinking the punishment fits the crime because Ryan was in another country, and the Olympic Games is all about "playing nice" with others, so-to-speak. Also, he LIED about people in another country WHILE he was in that country----that's TOTALLY un-cool, in-my-book!!

Doesn't seem fair especially with Phelps getting 6 months for a DUI, I think Brazil overreacted. My mom was trying to tell me that they did have a gun pulled on them by security guards who were off duty police at a gas station after damaging the property and were forced at gunpoint to compensate them so he sort of actually was robbed. Brazil seems more concerned about its reputation rather than unfathomable amount of crime and violence that happens in that country.

I think that the security guard pulling a gun on Lochte was a worse offense than anything Lochte did. He should pay for the vandalism damages and we should move on.

I have suspicions that Lochte might have been in a blackout. He might not even have a very good memory of what happened.

IMO, this suspension is what Lochte gets for trying to feed his ego. :x

Seems light compared to what Hope Solo got for saying something unprofessional about another team.

"Solo was suspended for six months and her contract with US Soccer was terminated..."

The story I heard was that Lochte got extremely drunk and kicked down a bathroom door and lost his wallet and was trying to cover it up with lies about being robbed at gun point.
