The US already has filed with UK authorities for extradition, obviously. Hacking into Missile Defense is not a light matter.
Laying aside he is using the most pathetic crybaby defense I ever heard, he has valid concerns about his place in the USAs fine correctional system. He certainly is at risk and thru his lawyers should apply to get in the program that keeps such criminals separate from the mean, nasty, violent, general population. He would be in a section with other at risk inmates, like Pedophiles.
I doubt he would have to serve 99 yrs however. Between pleas, overcrowding, and if he has good behavior I'd bet he could be out in under 5. Maybe under 2.
After you commit a crime is not the time to start considering the consequences.
If the UK wants to charge and try him themselves, ok. But if they don't they should extradite. He shouldn't just walk. I hope there is a new very unpleasant ring of hell in Dante's inferno just for Hackers. Maybe rows and rows of the best computers ... but no internet connection.
Sounds like they are perfectly capable of trying and sentencing him themselves.
