That is like wanting to have the cows without the cow-poop

A society without money (which is a means of exchange) means there is no longer a connection between labor rendered and goods and services received.

Despot?

India is a parliamentary democracy. He was elected the same way that every British prime minister was elected.

The headline is misleading. What he wants is a cashless society. Not a "moneyless" society. Not the same thing.

The US is already practically a cashless society(the only things Americans handle tangible cash for anymore are for illegal transactions like buying dope, or hookers). But America is hardly a "moneyless" society.

But even so its hard to imagine how an Indian prime minister is going to get the largely rural village population of India (most of whom dont even have bank accounts) to skip a stage in fiscal evolution and go straighth to a cashless electronic money economy.

It was done rather hastily and with little thought of the population needs or for that matter foreigners
