Link found between autism and Vitamin D deficiency in mother
Finally some separate studies about the link between Vitamin D deficiency in pregnant mothers and the prevalence of autism and adhd, which I've been wondering about for a while:

And some older results from Sweden:

Run it through Google translate. It's from the Norwegian Doctor's Association, a reliable source.
I didn't find the original article, but this one presents the same story. Basically, a while back, researchers found that the children of African immigrants in Sweden had twice as high a risk of being autistic as the rest of the population. For children of Somalian-born women, who mostly wear full body covering, the risk is 3-4 times as high as the regular Swedish population.
At some point, a lot of Somalians stopped vaccinating their children, because they were worrying that incidence of autism was so high, and apparently vaccines cause autism - have you heard that one before? I was told the same thing by a pediatric nurse who was really worried about the situation.
Getting reliable numbers from Somalia is of course a tough call. I remember Boo mentioning once that the prevalence of autism in the Middle East is high, and that this is probably had to do with cousin marriages being common. This is also the case in Somalia. However, if the studies are correct, the combination of dark skin, Nordic winters and Islamic dress deliver a triple whammy to pregnant mothers and unborn foetuses.
