I can't post a link using this phone but you can google it. Fayette Alabama pound is putting all the dogs down that aren't taken by Christmas Eve. They don't have enough staff and aren't open on weekends and don't have much funding.

I'm posting this in case anybody knows someone here in Bama who might want a dog. If so,steer them there.

This kind of thing happens from time to time, places not having money or staff and having to put animals down, but it's kind of f****d up that they are doing it on Christmas Eve.

Oddly enough the cats are not going to be put down.

Good, HEAVENS!! I mean, I know about the arguments that this is the best for them, but it just seems so awful!!

Here's a link----I don't know if it's THEE link you wanted to post, but:

Your news may be out of date if this is the right place, it looks like all dogs have been found homes:

Though more dogs will be coming if anyone still wants one.

^^ WOW----that was FAST!! That article I linked was from 10:30pm, last night----and, that Fb posting, was from 3 hours ago; and, considering the shelter's closed today.....

I mean, I know this was on TV, before the article was written, but STILL!!

It's no surprise. The shelter I volunteer at is no-kill but the down side of that is that they have to turn animals away when the kennels are full and/or resources are low. Those dogs we can't take wind up going to the county shelter which is a kill-for-space shelter so it's still a shi+ sandwich in the end for them. We can probably thank the power of social media for those dogs at the Fayette shelter getting adopted.
