Quote:
(CN) – An autistic man claims he was dissuaded from applying for a job at an Illinois Chick-fil-A after the restaurant’s manager told him that people with disabilities would not be able to succeed there.

James Kwon sued Chick-fil-A Inc. and Chick-fil-A of Orland Park FSU in Chicago federal court on Friday, claiming he was blocked from applying for a job at the Orland Park location due to his autism.

Goes to show you, we Aspies need to stand with our LGBT, black, Latino, etc brothers and sisters, because our fight, and their fight, are very much the same. And it's that red state chicken shack that has proven to be our mutual enemy.

That's discrimination! You should hire the most qualified person. To me a hard working person with autism is more productive than a lazy NT who could apply for the same job. I agree with Kraichgauer.

Not very surprising, I mean really if you're not a good Christian neurotypical who goes to church on sunday they don't want you. I should go in to 'apply' whilst wearing one of my most blatantly satanic t-shirts, and see what happens...

Chick Fil-A is biased against everyone who doesn't fit the "norm". Their food tastes like crap anyway.

All I've read about this so fare (multiple sources) is that Kwon claims he was blocked or at least discouraged from applying for a job with them. A claim proves nothing.

claim
klām
verb
1. state or assert that something is the case, typically without providing evidence or proof.
"he claimed that he came from a wealthy, educated family"
synonyms: assert, declare, profess, maintain, state, hold, affirm, avow

So, one manager at one shop is being accused of telling a disabled person that they wouldn't be a good fit, and that's being conflated into the entire company being anti-disability, with some extra cultural poo flinging for good measure because the owners are outspoken Christians...

Sounds like a horrible place and to think a factory I used to work in that employed people who were blind, deaf they didn't worry as long as you could do the work, they ended up closing down and taking the work off shore.
It was a good place to work.

The manager said people with disabilities would not be able to succeed there. Succeed at what? It's Chick-fil-A. What an idiot.

Don't think I've ever even seen one. There's only three of them in my entire state lol.

While the Cathy family still owns Chick-fil-A privately (because of "Cathy's Southern Baptist beliefs; all Chick-fil-A restaurants are closed for business on Sunday as well as Thanksgiving and Christmas" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chick-fil-A ), its corporate culture ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chick-fil ... te_culture ) has changed significantly with the adoption in 2012 of the statements "The Chick-fil-A culture and service tradition in our Restaurants is to treat every person with honor, dignity and respect -- regardless of their belief, race, creed, sexual orientation or gender" and "We are a restaurant company focused on food, service and hospitality; our intent is to leave the policy debate over same-sex marriage to the government and political arena."

So, while disability is not included in the statements, I doubt seriously that the corporate leadership wants to wade in on yet another very devisive matter. If they caved in the face of LGBT Americans, wouldn't they cave just as quickly in the face of disabled Americans and their families?

I don't think there's one in the entire east side of Washington state.

I guess that they are an eastern thing. Maybe eastern and southern.

Here in the Washington D.C. suburbs they are quite common. Can think of at least three that I personally have eaten at, and have seen many others that I driven past but never been in.

Their being Christian has nothing to do with it. Their willingness to decide what non Christians should do to work there is...
