So, he was double-dipping? I presume that, since it was a public job, the city government knew of his work, and applicable laws didn't prohibit him from working for government and a private business.

Yes, somehow the city permitted him to have a radio host job.

So, he has dabbled in both major U.S. political parties. So, it appears that Fouts has no real political home and is quite the maverick. Though, he might argue that he remains a Bernie Sanders supporter.

If it turns out he said this, just another public figure who does not realize this is 2016 and thinks what they say is going to stay private.

Right now he is in the middle of a pissing match with another Macomb County politician over some nonsense. Knowing how politics works in this county, I wouldn't put it past someone to plant this recording. Dog eat dog at any costs is how it rolls here.

Is Fouts Mother Theresa? Hell and No. Has he done ignorant sh*t in the past? Yes.
Has there been people forever trying to claw him out of office? Oh you bet.

On the surface, this is an oh my grabs pearls article. I think Fouts is too savvy of a politician to run his mouth where it can be recorded. Besides he brings in tons of manufacturing jobs to his city. Fouts could probably BBQ babies on the city hall front lawn and most would give it a shrug.

Money and jobs coming in glosses over a lot of things.

While it isn't very PC to run your mouth how allegedly Fouts did, I know plenty of people who say variations of how they hate dead people walking fund raisers (pick terminal disease of choice), pouring money into sped school services when these kids are just going to be living with their parents forever any way, or why spend $500K keeping a near vegetative, chronically medically fragile kid in ICU when the kid is going to die in three months. The PC police didn't change these people's hearts and minds, it just drove all this nastiness underground, where it can't get debated or changed.

I would rather have people be ignorant to my face, than smile and stab me in the back later.
