Two U.S. warships in the Mediterranean Sea fired 59 Tomahawk missiles intended for a single target — Ash Sha'irat in Homs province in western Syria, the officials said. That's the airfield from which the United States believes the government of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad fired the banned weapons.
There was no immediate word on casualties. U.S. officials told NBC News that people were not targeted and that aircraft and infrastructure at the site were hit, including the runway and gas fuel pumps.

I don't know what the solution is for Syria, but here is a good gauge to use to tell whether people debating current actions are debating from principle or from politics.
In 2016 alone, the last year of his presidency -- just one year -- Obama dropped more than 12,000 bombs on Syria, more than 12,000 bombs on Iraq, more than 1300 bombs on Afghanistan, almost 500 bombs on Libya, and more than 50 bombs together on Somalia, Pakistan, and Yemen.![]()

Senior White House officials met on the issue of Syria Wednesday evening in a session that lasted into early Thursday, and Defense Secretary Jim Mattis, Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and Army Lt. Gen. H.R. McMaster, the national security adviser, have communicated repeatedly since Tuesday’s chemical attack, the officials said.

From the above two articles,
While the Obama White House began operations against the Islamic State in 2014, it backed away from a planned assault on Syrian government sites a year earlier after a similar chemical attack on Syrian civilians.

Except we all know that it's really more-likely like the U.S. (Shadow) Government has «planted» the Chemica-Weapons there Secretly and Covertly in order to purposely let it blow down-wind & cause cancers. Everybody should get David Morehouse's book, Psychic Warrior, and read the chapter that describes this discovery.

I wouldn't be surprised if it ended in WW3 myself. Like this guy on the radio said, "Syria is not our problem. The media shows a bunch of pictures of the children and we're doing something about it now? This has been going on for a long time. Africa is in a big mess right now - why aren't we helping them? AND we voted for Trump not to get involved in other countries problems. And what if he starts sending troops of OUR kids over to fight this "horse s**t" who are just 18 yrs of age themselves and not much older than children. Why should our children die?" I agree with that guy who was also a Trump voter. And knowing that McCain and Lindsey Graham approve makes me disapprove more. Trump better not be their whipping boy or he'll be ousted by his voters on the next go-around.

Darn, I flunked.
Wait a minute....
You are the high priestess of Trump worship on WP.
But (let me get this straight)are you telling us that you do NOT approve of Trump doing this attack?
Trump is actually capable of doing something that you disapprove of?
Thats....interesting.

interesting....very interesting indeed, guess they didn't indiscriminately bomb the area. I just, since when does trump care about Syrians? Wasn't he trying to ban Syrian refugees coming to america?

this bombing seems mostly punitive, hopefully they don't escalate things further
there is no way Assad can be overthrow that doesn't cause more violence and more territory in the hands of Islamic extremists who have used gas many times themselves. I'd like to actually see the evidence that Assad personally called for the use of this gas which makes no sense considering the Syrian governments position in the war

The choice was either to do nothing: and encourage everyone (not just Assad) to start using poison gas.
Or to do something.
The something he did was a one time punch that knocked out a military asset of Assad.
What choice would any POTUS have had,but to do something like this in the given situation? So I see no reason to complain about it.

In 2013, he condemmed Obama for bombing Syria, strange now he is doing it.

A statement from the office of President Bashar al-Assad of Syria said the cruise missile strike, which President Trump said was a response to a chemical weapons attack in Idlib Province on Tuesday that left more than 80 people dead, was the result of “a false propaganda campaign.”
...
The statement from Mr. Assad’s office said that the missile strikes revealed “shortsightedness and political and military blindness to reality,” and that they had only increased Syria’s determination to eliminate what it said were terrorists, “wherever they are on Syrian territory.”
...
Dmitri S. Peskov, a spokesman for President Vladimir V. Putin of Russia, said that the strikes represented a “significant blow” to American-Russian ties, and that Mr. Putin considered the attack a breach of international law that had been made under a false pretext.
Moscow also called on the United Nations Security Council to convene an emergency meeting, and the Russian Foreign Ministry said it was freezing an agreement with the United States to coordinate air operations over Syria.
...
Although Russia did not deploy its air defense system in Syria against the American cruise missiles, it flexed its military muscles after the attack. The minister of defense, Sergei K. Shoigu, said that Russia would bolster Syria’s air defense systems, and the Russian news agency Tass reported that a frigate would enter the Mediterranean Sea on Friday and would visit the logistics base at the Syrian port of Tartus.
