WP gets Tweeted?

I'm new to Twitter, so I'm an idiot. Especially when I find WP posted there. I sorta think of WP as a bunch of friends and I speak easily. But now I find out I've been on Twitter the whole time????

Are you saying, some of our posts are being tweeted? If so, not cool! I also noticed that our members only section is not private and could easily be bypassed via google searches.

Yes, that's what it looks like. There's got to be somebody here who knows how and why and I wish they'd speak up.

Something from Twitter came - in mail? yes, i think so.
I clicked on the url that went with Alex's picture - and got pages & pages of WP, including stuff from me.

Obviously I don't know the rules.

I was able to find it after a quick google search and I agree, I don't like it.

Yes, that's it. It's probably some modern version of communication that I didn't catch on to. But I really wish somebody would come in here and explain it to me. Pretend I'm your great-grandmother.

Yeah, this is not appropriate. It's probably automated, so should just be discontinued.

It is automated, every new thread gets posted. But it seems dependent on the section... It should be shut down or be off limits to forum post.

I'm not in favor of it, but I'm also not really bothered by it. There are sites that capture thread links and archive them. What you say on WP goes gets posted to other places. However most of this stuff is obscure and you have to either dig for it or stumble upon it, to even know it exists.

Twitter lets people publish short paragraphs of 140 characters. If you follow a Twitter account, you see all those posts. Most Twitter accounts let anyone follow, and millions of accounts exist. Every corporation, and many grandmothers, have them.

Yes, this twitter account promotes the site, and it makes threads public, as such. They were public already, though. The feed seems pretty boring and has 2000 followers. Some of those followers are fake profiles, you can be sure, and in any case 2000 is not a lot.

My main forum has a twitter feed, but it doesn't "promote" every single post, any post really... The twitter is used for industry news and events; sometimes it will link to that particular discussion.

Then again, this is a large forum that turns a profit.

WP has a twitter feed

The site is also indexed in google. This is a public forum so some people find it through google, some through twitter, and various other places.

Also, the twitter account is linked to on every page of the site.
