Adults could be legally allowed to change their gender without a medical diagnosis and without having to live for two years as their desired gender. The government’s proposals – if they become law – will mean women can “self-identify” as men – and vice versa – and have their birth certificates altered accordingly.

Good idea or bad? There's potential for problems.

Changing room, bathroom, etc. access should be first and foremost based on sex, not gender. Dicks through one door, vaginas through the other.

without gender reassignment surgery I assume for legal purposes the person has to demonstrate living as an alternate gender for two years, i assume they have to "dress" according to gender stereotypes and "act" accordingly (the latter invalidating cross dressers)

This is America, home of the free and the brave. As long as an individual does no harm to another - and I fail to see how someone living as the opposite sex would - they should be free to live as such, and have their rights respected. Let them poop or pee in whichever rest room they like.

I think cubicles solves the issue anyway, privacy assured

I think what you call cubicles are what we call stalls.

It's not limited to identifying as man or woman anymore. It's identifying as:

Agender
Androgynous
Bigender
Cisgender
Female
Gender Fluid
Gender Nonconforming
Gender Questioning
Gender Variant
Genderqueer
Intersex
Male
Neither
Neutrois
Non-binary
Other
Pangender
Transgender
Transgender Female
Transgender Male
Transsexual Person
Two-Spirit

And that's the short list.

I thnk pandora's box has been opened and now it's domino effect time.

Pandora's box did not contain dominoes.

Mixing metaphors usually indicates mental flailing.

I see you are still obsessed with making continual unprovoked condescending personal attacks against me. Do you think it's funny to bully a cognitively impaired kid by saying he has mental failure?

I just don't think having all these "genders" is going to lead to an Ancient Roman type of decadence.

Exactly. Now I'm not flustered by that. But that is the direction I see it all going in.

I've been agender for the past decade.

I'm still waiting to see how my identity is causing the collapse of society.

I myself am not referring to a collapse of society, but rather the probability of some major changes.

Changes - very often major ones - are inevitable.

Yes, our ideas about gender as a strict binary are going to change. It's called social progress.

We used to think homosexuality was a mental illness. Then we changed for the better and accepted homosexuality as a natural variance. The same will happen for the idea of a strict gender binary--the idea will be relegated to our ignorant past and we will move beyond it to something better and more accepting of natural human variation.

I get the impression gender/non gender is a subjective free for all, and you can be whatever you choose to be at any given point of time .
Of course what you choose to be is very dependant on being aware of the current options.
