After the ACA repeal defeat, HHS Secretary Tom Price says he's open to waiving the ACA mandate.

I find this odd.

I thought the ACA was a law. The Trump administration (executive branch) shouldn't be able to waive a law.

Trump's first week in office, he issued an Executive Order forbidding the Internal Revenue Service from collecting any penalties on behalf of the ACA mandate, meaning you don't have to pay it, and the IRS can't make you.

The Obamacare mandate has been effectively neutered since Donald Trump became President.

There are only a tiny handful of exchanges left, anyway, so it's really a moot point. Obamacare has collapsed.

The sysyem will have to totally collapse badly before maybe they're willing to stop screwing around with their partisan nonsense. McCain with his grudge along with Schumer, Feinstein, Warren and the rest.

Can't blame this on Schumer, Feinstein, and Warren, they're the minority party and they weren't invited to drafting sessions only McConnell and his 12 buddies were. What incentive do any of them have to vote for legislation they were barred from contributing to?

/\ SO? It seems the Dems have been having their OWN drafting sessions, because I recently read that the Dems have proposed, like, 20-some amendments----so, that tells me they have NOT been barred, from contributing. Now, AFAIK, none of their proposals have been accepted, yet----but, then, that just stands to prove, IMO, that not enough people have decided to be ADULTS, in the matter (besides, IIRC, the Bill is nowhere NEAR completion); and, the people Ezra named, are, IMO, the ones who are always causing the most trouble, cuz they're so hard-nosed, when it comes to their PARTY (vs. the American PEOPLE), that things just keep getting stalled, and stalled, and stalled.

If the Republicans are still holding a grudge because they weren't able to get alot passed, while the Dems controlled the House, then they need to get-over, themselves----and, likewise, if the Dems are holding a grudge, cuz their candidate didn't win, then they need to get-over themselves, TOO; SOMEBODY'S gotta be the ADULT, here!!

McConnell worked on two bills in a closed session with 12 other Republican senators, barring not just democrats but a large portion of his moderate caucus. The straight repeal was already done, and the skinny repeal was thrown out at the last second as an attempt to salvage any kind of victory. The Democrats have had no input, and thus you'll get no support from them. Besides, the Republicans have a majority so they don't need the Democrats to pass it, only their own caucus. Fact is everything McConnell has put forth doesn't have the support of the American people, nor even the Senate. All frustration should be directed at him.

I still don't understand how a law can be waived.

Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act "signed into law by President Barack Obama on March 23, 2010"
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Patient_P ... e_Care_Act

Cabinet members can now waive laws they don't like I guess.
