I only just learned about the issue today from this article. My first thought is to agree with the conservatives in this case, that the beginnings of hurricane relief should not raise the debt ceiling and should be a separate issue. Maybe it's time to reappropriate funds from other programs, like defense spending or foreign aid, rather than increase our already untenable debt. But then, I've never really understood the "national debt" concept, how a country can just keep borrowing endlessly.
