Tons of smoke everywhere, anyone else effected?

So not sure how it is for everyone else here in North America but here in Colorado there is a lot of smoke. Probably worse in areas closest to the various wildfires causing it. It's caused a strange ambiance today, the sun was literally red and looked larger due to distortion from the smoke....it looked like a freaking harvest moon. I mean kind of cool looking, but I know its caused by an unhealthy amount of smoke that I am also breathing.

I'm not exactly sure where they live but a G+ friend who lives west of the Mississippi River was commenting they have an air quality warning yesterday and today.

Same thing here. Very hazy from smoke and the moon last night was a deep orange. It's not helping my asthma any.

Oh yeah. It's very bad here and the smoke looks like fog and it's like we are having snow but it's all ash that is falling. We are all advised to stay inside and limit being outdoors and limit driving unless you can use the same air over and over in your car. East Troutdale was put at level 1 for evacuation. That is close to where I live. I hope Portland won't need to be evacuated too.

Washington and Oregon are all smoky out here.

Geez, here in Washington, you could make a horror flick called The Haze, to join those other horror flicks like The Fog, and The Mist! The moon in the smoke filled night sky is blood orange! I don't have asthma, but I'm getting pretty congested.

This morning the sun is a dull red.

Yeah, while I'm flipping out over Irma, you guys out around the Rockies have some BAD s**t going on.

Please go if they ask you to, OK?? You can take precautions for fire-- careful construction with non-combustible materials, defensible space, all that-- but smoke is a lot like water. You can't breathe it, and there's not much you can do about it.

The moon was red,the sunset was red,and yesterday morning the light was a strange yellow.The meteorologist said it was smoke from the fires in Montana.

So the western half of the US is cloaked in smoke from brush fires?

Here in the eastern half we don't have any of that. But its all gray skies and rain from- I dunno- one, or the other, or both of the two hurricanes.

The sky here is grey and it looks foggy. But it's not normal grey sky and fog. You can tell it's from smoke.

It's been quite hot in the West.

San Francisco hit an all-time high temperature of 106.

Even Eureka tied their all-time record, with 87.

And the humidity is low---hence the fires.

We, in the East, are under a relatively moist pattern, so very little quantity of fires here.

Usually, if the East is "having it good," the West is "having it bad."

I've seen smoke from distant forest fires that was like a bad fog but worse because it makes you want to gag. What's really interesting is when it rains ashes.

I live on the western slope, and yes, we have had lots of smoke, but there aren't any fires for well over 100 miles. I'm not complaining, it's very rare to see a purple sunset, and I've seen five straight days of them.
