Trump moves to crack down on China trade

I usually hate what Trump does, but this may actually be a good thing. This may shake up the Chinese system and challenge the tyranny of Xi Jinping. Hopefully, some of the banned political parties within China will rise up amid the chaos.

... or perhaps this won't do anything. I don't know.
I think that the economists are right when they say that Trump is misrepresenting economic history. It is true that many jobs that have been allegedly "outsourced to China" have actually been replaced by robots. That being said, I appreciate any political decision which may put Xi Jinping's power in jeopardy.
What do you all think?

My initial reaction was trade war & American protectionism = higher prices for US consumers.
But after reading the article.. I still believe those same things, however, I can see the USA's point about China wanting intellectual property and imposing rules that restrict ownership and investment over there being very China-sided.
The thing about the whole trade imbalance is that it isn't so much a deficit where China "owes," the USA money so much as it simply is that the USA buys more stuff from China (cheap!) than China buys from the USA. Very few countries are ever going to buy & sell each other the exact same amount of stuff. Americans are the biggest consumer culture in the entire world, so of course they buy more crap from China than they sell to China. I don't get the impression that Trump understands this fully & just views "trade deficit," as "China owes us money," like it's some sort of "accounts owing," line on a balance sheet.
