Autism affects the way a child communicates and sees the world, but with only 50 child psychiatrists in Africa, it requires specialised care that most Africans don't have

My mother has a friend who researches into child abuse in rural W.Africa and a lot of the children that are accused of witchcraft are often on the spectrum or have a developmental issue.

Thank you so much for bringing this up. A lot of people don't even know that autism exists in Africa.

I guess this disproves the myth that we are all "spoiled". Africa has a lot of problems, but spoiled children isn't one of them.

This also disproves the Neanderthal hypothesis, which always had racist implications anyway.

Thank you for sharing this article. It brings to light that autism isn't just a white. middle class thing.
