The thing is, the UN human rights council will probably not survive without US involvement. The UNHRC is a joke, honestly. Too many of the members are themselves human rights abusers, so their human rights violations never get addressed and the they focus on other things to distract from them. I'm usually critical of Trump when he snubs the international community but in this case, this would not be the first time that the US boycotted the UNHRC, it happened before during the Bush administration.
